Tbf, Merus was just a trainee Angel, so he's vastly inferior to the likes of Whis. He and MUI Goku were pretty much equal during the Moro arc.

But yeah, Beerus being as powerful as he is doesn't make any sense at all. I guess Toriyama meant it when he said(during BoG) that he didn't have any plans for Goku/Vegeta to surpass Beerus.

wasn't it stated that jiren was already above the gods? so how can destroyers still be touted as this powerful when they were already surpassed several arcs ago?

Pretty much.

You can try to rationalize it all you want, but at the end of the day Tori/Toyo simply want Beerus to be this powerful... So he is.

i get that part. but if jiren was already confirmed to be stronger than the destroyers, and jiren's power has been surpassed by goku and the others now, then how have they tried to explain why beerus is still more powerful then them all?

^ It was only ever stated that Jiren was above his universe's Destroyer -- but since we know that not all Destroyers are on equal footing, that statement never really meant that Jiren was above Beerus by default.

Either way, I doubt Tori ever really planned on the scaling getting THIS absurd. Like, during the ToP he probably did intend for Jiren to at least be able to give Beerus a damn good fight... But now we know that Beerus would casually one-shot Jiren using a micro-fraction of his power.

They tried to reconcile the power of Destroyers with the reveal of Ultra Ego, but as mentioned before, that was sloppy and left more questions than answers.

So again:

The entirety of DBS, sadly...

i never really kept up with dbs much after the tournament of power, but yeah it sounds like it. 🙁

DBS at its absolute best can't hold a candle to DB, DBZ or DBGT, even.

Tori might still have his sense of humor, but he seems to have lost everything else.

I didn't know Cooler power level was at 470 million 😬.

He could wave his hand and kill his brother.

Thanks to his 5th form, yes.

But DBS Frieza would obliterate him even in his weakest form.

but he's cooler

and in the end isn't that what matters most?

It's always been up in the air as to whether or not those power levels listed for Cooler/Broly/Gogeta in the video game promo article you're referring to are 'official', or just applicable to the games said article was hyping(ie. DBZ 3/Budokai 3.)

I've always thought the 470m figure was logically way too high for Cooler, given that he was effectively no-diffed by n00b-SS Goku(who, by all accounts, was meant to be around his Namek era levels in the movie.)

Actually, the movie did show and mention Goku training and getting stronger, if I recall correctly 😛

The Kame House scene with Goku mercilessly kamehameha'ing the sea 😂

Roshi commented on that, I think? It's been a while.

Then you have Base Goku's fight with Cooler and Cooler being impressed with his base form.

Movies are pretty much their own thing, remember.

Roshi did comment that Goku had gotten stronger, but it was never implied that his power increase was overly significant. I mean, the movie was likely set a matter of days/weeks after Freeza was killed -- Cooler had just been notified of Freeza's death, Gohan still had his short Namek-era hair, Goku hadn't fully mastered the SS transformation(and didn't appear to have learned IT yet), etc. I know movies are their own thing, but I have my doubts that Movie #5/n00b-SS1 Goku was intended to have been rocking a PL of 500m+(over 3x the PL he had on Namek.)

As mentioned, the power levels listed for Cooler/Broly/Gogeta in the article carver referenced were promotional material for the DBZ 3/Budokai 3 video games, hence why their game renders were used when the PLs were displayed:
https://ibb.co/0cyFBgC

That's why those PLs have always been questionable. They might be 'real', or they might be applicable to the games only. No one really knows. /shrug

Or maybe we should just ignore V-Jump as a whole, when it comes to PLs? 😖hifty:

Instead of selectively using it when it's most convenient for Galan-sama's agenda? uhuh

The issue isn't that V-Jump is an unreliable source. The issue is that we don't know if the PLs listed in that particular article are only applicable to the games they were promoting, or if they're applicable to the movie(s) as well.

That's not how vs. fighting genre of video games work, though.

You can beat SF games with Dan Hibiki, even though he's SF's equivalent of Sourman.

^ every single post about DBZ, as far as I can tell
