I would say his plan was genius. What it didn't do was get him out of poverty.

Maybe it takes a cult?
Get a group that's built around absolute loyalty, stresses education and achievement, and is headed by a genius/geniuses.
That's pretty much what the Smallville Sex Cult was. The mastermind behind the thing was a genuine big brain, had bags of charisma, a plan, and could inspire enough loyalty to run the damned operation from prison.
If the White House doesn’t come out with a statement that:
- supports a governor in this type of situation
- denounces the types of idiots who try to act out like this
- tries to establish some sort of unity or common bond
Then your whole country is in deep trouble.
It is incredible that no one is addressing the incredible, and irrational divisiveness that is currently percolating in the US
