42% isn't good at all, but it isn't terribly horrible considering the economy has yet to recover. Some Democrats have really dropped the ball not coming together as one on the infrastructure bill and it's hurting Biden, which hurts the whole party in turn.

The Republicans have a great chance of handing the Democrats their asses in the midterms.

Presidents tend to have low approval ratings before the midterm campaign ever since Nixon. The only exceptions were Herbert Bush and Dubya Bush. The former was close to ending the cold war, the latter went full invasion against terrorists because of 9/11.

7/10 adults per the poll believe the country is heading in the wrong direction. This is way beyond just democrats, hell 60% of his own party believe he's handling the economy wrongly. The state of the country is shit and he isn't helping anything at all.
