In the US a distnction is made between opinion and reporting news. Tucker Carlson is what is known as a "pundit", and gets paid for basically doing the same thing Loneranger or Whirl does in GDF for free. And because it's opinion the standard of proof is so much higher to prove as to be nearly impossible.

To be fair the distinction only exists because judges allow them to pretend to fall under parody even though their audience takes it as actual journalism. If people ever decided to stop jerking conservatives news networks and held them to actual news standards they would be in deep shit.
