Obi-Wan Kenobi - The Series

^ 👆 Yep. And as I said he may have just been indifferent to the idea of him escaping. Ergo he didnt plan it, and wouldnt just let him go, but might not try his best to prevent it either.

A second look though and the fire did seem quite big and at least blinded his view.

Why would Vader let him go? He obviously wants to torture him for what happened on Mustafar. The intention was that the fire was blocking Vader from getting to Kenobi, but the idea that Vader couldn't just use the Force to bring Kenobi to him is just poor writing.

He would prefer to beat Kenobi at his peak. Because the “fight” Obi-Wan put up was truly pathetic. Not what Vader waited 10 years for.

That said im sure he wouldnt mind just taking him and torturing him either. Like I said the Impression I got was that he was Indifferent to him escaping… For Now…

He may need to establish a lock on him to force pull him if he cant see him. But im just speculating.

Oh what you guys might like was the dead pilot was Rian Johnson 😂

Lmaooo

I think you're ascribing you own thoughts to Vader. He never indicated that he was looking for a good fight, but he did say that he wanted Kenobi to suffer.

Well like I said its the impression I got when watching it. Not everythings always spelt out for us, especially in Star Wars.

But id say the fact that he didnt do his best to stop Kenobi escaping IS an Indication. Also his line to Kenobi in ANH “Now I am The Master” shows his desire to prove hes superior.

You're giving them too much credit. It's just bad writing. The whole show is filled with it, especially Leia and Third Sister. Obi-Wan is basically TLJ Luke all over again.

Maybe. I just tend to look for the most plausible In Universe explanation first before assuming its a plot error.

Well the fact that he went to help Leia shows hes no where close to the abomination that was TLJ Luke. The Luke who just decided to feel sorry for himself and give up on the Jedi and the Galaxy whilst his friends were getting killed and the New Republic was getting eliminated.

Ben just feels he had his battle but he lost. But is still looking for hope in Luke and Leia.

And he hasnt cut himself off from the Force either.

Yeah, I still think that Vader allowed Kenobi to escape.

He could have casually TK'd Kenobi from across the fire again, like he had done moments beforehand... But he didn't.
He could have extinguished the fire with a single Force push again, like he had done moments beforehand... But he didn't.

Despite this, Vader didn't make any attempts to capture Kenobi(or the girl) again, and basically just allowed them to walk away(akin to what he did with the Rebels in ANH, I suppose.) Perhaps allowing Kenobi to live with this defeat is part of the suffering process that Vader mentioned. /shrug

I doubt it but to each his own. One massive plot hole that has arrisen, however, is Vader and the Empire's knowledge of the Kenobi-Organa connection. Why wouldn't Vader just knock on Bail's door after all this is over?

Btw, chances of Quinlan Vos being in the next episode are pretty high, for a series of in and out of universe reasons.

First of all, we not only know that he is alive, but that he is an active member of the anti-imperial network smuggling force sensitives to Jabiim. So the chances of him being there are pretty high and, guess what, at the end of the episode Tala tells the droid they need to take the wounded Kenobi to Jabiim.

Secondly, with Leia being captured, it would be logical for Kenobi, who just learned of Vos’s survival, to ask his help to track her down thanks to his force powers.

Thirdly, there is also a out of universe explanation. O’Shea Jackson, the guy rumored to play Vos, in response to Reva’s actress receiving racist insults, wrote on Twitter “Probably kills them (the racist fans) that James Earl Jones is Darth Vader. They are gonna looove finding out what my character does”. Now this statement seems to indicate that O’shea’s character isn’t just, I dunno, a rebel soldiers skilled with a blaster or stuff like that, but that he can do something special.. like Psychometry. This, and also his Twitter being recently edited to include “13th member of the Jedi Council”.

I won't at all be surprised if Vos appears in this... It's how he'll be handled that concerns me.

Lmaooo same here. The moment he appears I'll be expecting him to be killed by one of the inquisitors. If he appeared in the Bad Batch or Rebels I wouldn't be as concerned

Vos isnt Black though is he ?

I mean we saw him in TPM right ?

Edit- ah just checked an image, and looks like he was. I always thought he was brownish.

God, who cares about the race of these characters? Last time I checked, Lando and Mace Windu are black too and they're fan favourites. The actress playing Reva is just bad.

But Mace and Lando don't seem a different colour in animation and comics. It's not exactly way off though so whatever.

Filoni's an advisor on this series, so I doubt that'll happen. Let's hope at least !

I'm referring to Disney labeling anyone critisizing Reva as racist.

Yeah, even though Vos's on screen appearances are limited, I never thought of him as a black male... He certainly wasn't depicted as such in TCW.

Her race literally has nothing to do with it. She is just an absolutely terrible actor.

Yeah I agree, tbh I think Disney kinda exploited the few racists comments she received to label ALL the people who criticized her as racists, so they avoid admitting her character isn’t just great.

About Vos, in theory he is a Native American but SW hasn’t always been coherent with him. Like, sometimes his skin is tanned, especially in the earlier comics with him, but then they had him become Caucasian later on . And the extra who played him in TPM was african-American. In TCW they also changed his hair style from long, straight hair to Snoop Dog hair lmao.

Anyway with some make up or stuff like that I guess I’d be easy to have O’Shea look like Quinlan
