Vader completely tooled Ben, some sort of breakthrough in the force must've happened between these events and ANH because Old Ben was able to do wayyyyy better

Wait they did it THIS early?....Or late? How long is this series again?
There are 3 more episodes and there will obviously be
Spoiler:
a rematch after Obi-Wan reconnects with the Force and Qui-Gon. Presumably, he will do better and stalemate or beat Vader. That said, what we got so far is worse than the duel in ANH and looks like a fan film.

Ah I see. Well...ok then, personally I'm not really liking these constant matchups between characters, when the movies themselves imply that said characters hadn't seen one another in a long time.
Kinda feels like it takes away growth if the characters had only just fought like mere months ago or even a year ago.
Even worse when they hadn't FOUGHT at all.
Looking at you Grievous vs Obi-Wan on Utapau.
"You FOOL, I have been trained in your Jedi Arts by Count Dooku."
"Yes Grievous I know, we've only fought half a dozen times."
Star Wars had always played semantics with dialogue. Remember when Yoda was THE Jedi Master who instructed Obi-Wan. Or when Leias mother died when she was very little, clearly implying she was a child not a new born…
So I dont mind it if it helps to make a good story. Like I already said pointless ones like every Tom, Dick and Harry calling him Obi-Wan at that mid point between Sith and ANH is just f***int irritating, simply because of how pointless it is. Doesnt help the story one bit.
This story is trying to fill in some blanks though. I just think it would have worked much better no more than 5 years after Sith. 10 years is pushing it.

This is why SW is so dogshit right now. It's because all Disney needs to do is drop an easter egg refencing a mediocre character from a superior show and SW fans will eat whatever shit is offered up and then ask for seconds.

I mean, for Yoda, you can chalk that up to him instructing Obi-Wan as a Youngling, which we see he does do in EP 2. Which I mean Luke would be a Youngling in that sense, given he just starts.Still yeah, I get semantics and all that. But I just find the dialogue a little weirder now.
But remember Ben said THE Jedi Master who instructed me. Not A Jedi Master who instructed me. Implying that was his main teacher. The Leia line about Padme dying when she was very little is definitely weird.
Plus lines that seem weird as the OT went on, like Ben saying “that boy is out last hope” then Yoda telling Ben “No there is another” as if Ben didnt know who the other was. Yet he clearly always did. And that was clear not just after the prequels, but became clear in ROTJ.
So yeah theres always been a lot of weird dialogue in Star Wars due to them completing the back story later.
Which is why I dont mind that as long as they have a narrative need for it. And honestly Leia being in trouble is the Only good justification for Ben to leave Tatooine IMHO.

Not really. Ive always said they should have done a Vos show INSTEAD of this. Hes a fan favourite and can make for a lot of interesting stories with his background of going undercover.
So im happy Disney finally have the balls to bring him into continuity maybe even into live action. This way they get to do a series with the more famous character, before delving off into lesser known Jedi.
Also I am enjoying this show in that there is a story here to tell with a broken Obi-Wan overcoming his losses and becoming the Alec Guiness Kenobi. And making one last effort to try and redeem Vader before realising its hopeless.
I just think the timeline is a bit late. The story group should have advised to do this earlier in the timeline.

It's dogshit because they keep making all these shows and movies set between the PT and OT and shortly after the OT. I've had enough of this time period, especially knowing how it all goes to shit with the sequels. None of these shows add anything to the lore, they just **** with established canon.
This is all the normies know, so it's all they'll focus on since anything that springs from the movies is guaranteed cash for the producers and studio.
If Disney had any balls, they'd hire good original writers and move away from the movie-era of events, and make some original, interesting SW. The problem with focusing on the movie era and characters and easter eggs is that every single reference makes the world seem -smaller-.
SW is set in a galaxy eons ago, which has FTL travel and more intelligent races than you can shake a stick at, along with mysticism in the Force, incredible technology, and a really cool retro-futuristic aesthetic with some lived-in look to it. Then some studio moron, second or third generation screen writer with next to no accomplishments to his name, gets millions of dollars in funding to make a SW project, and it's just more of the same.
Even Filoni and Favreau don't get a pass from me, because they've been milking clones/Mando culture and PT era forever now.
I love Ewan McGregor and even though Obi-Wan got crap to work with in the PT, his performance was a highlight and in the EU books he was more developed (easily my favorite character besides Han Solo). But I don't give a shit about this show, because it's just going to desecrate canon and the character again.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is really Leia and Reva's story and he gets shoved to the side like some kind of bumbling moron. Does he even do anything important, smart, or wise in this?
So, some guy translated the other Jedi names carved on the walls of the shelter, they are: Dume, Djinn Altis, Roganda Ismaren, Valin Halcyon.
Excluding Dume, all the others are Legend characters who are finally canonized.
Djinn Altis was a Jedi Master responsible for creating a splinter faction within the Jedi Order which encouraged attachments. His followers and he took part to the clone wars, but avoided Order 66 by not having clones near them.
Roganda Ismaren may not ring a bell for you, but what if I say... Lord Nyax? Roganda was a Jedi Youngling who survived the initial implementation of Order 66, until she was captured by the Inquisitors and turned into one of Sidious's concubines. She became pregnant and her son is Lord Nyax himself.
Valin Halcyon is the son of Jedi Master Neeja Halcyon. When he was old enough, Valin was trained by his father in the ways of the Force like a real padawan, until Neeja was killed during Order 66. He was then adopted by his stepfather and changed his name to Hal Horn. His son is Corran Horn, who would later join Luke's Jedi Order
I think there are more names on the wall but these ones are the only readable ones

Exactly. They could have done something with the Ancient Sith, Exar Kun, Revan, etc. But no, it's gotta be OT period, which was made irrelevant by the sequels anyway.
Yeah the sequels kinda ruin everything. All this struggle to bring balance to the force and defeat Sidious only to be back at square 1 just 30 years later. The sequels could still be saved until ep 9 but JJ is an ass so nope. Well, the damage is done, the best authors can do is somehow retcon or at least twist some plot points of the sequels to make them more bearable. Like Ghost Anakin being the one who actually boosts Rey the most in her force fight against Palpatine or something like that.
About the time period stuff, new canon has been around only 8 years, so it’s like we’re back at the 80s content wise. But In the last 2 years they started publishing stuff set some 200-300 years before the prequels, which is a time that has been largely ignored by Legends Content. We’re also going to have Star Wars Eclipse which will be set in the High Republic Era. And didn’t they announce a new trilogy set in the past? If you give them enough time I’m sure they’ll move back in time even more
Episode was the best of the 3, loved seeing Vader, even though the fight scene was overall lackluster. But I get it, Obi has a decade of being out of the game.
I didn't really care about the Vos reference, but I also never got into the cartoon he was in. Do hope if he's prominent in an episode, he's not written or acted out to be shit.
