Vader was conflicted against Kenobi. Palpatine even confirms his feelings towards Kenobi weakened him.
No, Vader made it clear he wanted to kill Obi-Wan. He tried to burn him alive in ep. 3 and he buried him alive in this one. Just look at how pissed he has been throughout the show. This isn't the usual cold and calculating Vader. He was out for blood.
What Palpatine meant was that Vader's obsession with Kenobi cost them the rebel network. Vader commanded his ship to follow Kenobi instead of the people protecting the Jedi, remember? His personal feelings got in the way of the Empire's agenda.

Just shows once again that Kenobi is damn near unbeatable when he's fighting for those kids. He also racked up what are easily his best Force/TK feats in canon... But yeah, the decision to allow Vader to live (again) was ridiculous, even though it *had* to happen. Like, you know he's obviously going to continue slaying innocents and become more powerful, but I digress. Unfortunately that wasn't the dumbest part of this show by a longshot.Anyway, it does put Vader's learner/master line from ANH into more perspective, I guess? /shrug
I will say that seeing the ghost of Qui-Gon was chill-inducing, brief as it was. That's one thing I was hoping to get from the start. 👆
Also irked how leia immediately accepted kenobi not telling her who her parents are. Disney realizes that anh leia is not 10 yo leia, right?
All in all this series was a miss -- had a few cool moments, but that's about it. Could have been so much better if someone like Favreau or even Filoni had headed it up, but here we are.
This is great stuff.
Obi-Wan pratfalls in front of every Sith but his asspull victory against Maul and muggle Grievous. Even Ventress stomps him in Legends back in the day quite often. He's virtually a non-factor in duels with Dooku, the only on-screen non-surprise use of TK to overcome someone in old school G-canon.
And here is he donkey stomping Vader, who just got done tearing open a ship in the previous episode like a bag of chips. Although if Vader was ever that strong in TK all this time, he should have been soloing entire rebel bases, and bringing the Falcon down to earth in ESB.

Yeah that’s not what Palpatine meant at all. He literally says Vader’s feelings toward Obi Wan weakened him. And you can see how conflicted he was when the mask came off. Also when he let him go in the 3rd episode with the fire. He was conflicted the whole time.

And you’re right, this isn’t the usual cold and calculating Vader. He let his anger and emotions toward Obi Wan get the better of him. That’s why he’s finally able to win in ANH, he has better control of his emotions.
Not really. Obi-Wan let Vader kill him to protect Luke, so it doesn't prove anything.

Lol wtf are you smoking, he didn't let him go. The fire blocked him. It looked stupid because it wasn't that big of a fire, but that's a budget problem. The whole show looks cheap. Before that, he ordered his troops to bring Obi-Wan so that he could torture him. And he buried Obi-Wan alive in ep. 6 thinking that would finish him. You can interpret Palpatine's words any way you like, but the fact is that Vader had some monstrous TK feats in this show, including ripping apart that ship when he thought Obi-Wan was inside. There's nothing in their battle that suggests Vader was weakened or conflicted in any way. When the mask came off, Vader confirmed that Anakin is gone and Vader is all that's left. He even smiles a little when he says he's the one who killed Anakin Skywalker, not Obi-Wan. It was made clear that Obi-Wan can't save him, that's he called him Darth instead of Anakin at the end.Not really. Obi-Wan let Vader kill him to protect Luke, so it doesn't prove anything.

It’s been confirmed that ANH Ben had no chance of defeating Vader in one of the books IIRC
I read it, i know Galan once posted it, but can't find and don't quite remember. I remember Obi-Wan said when they clashed with sabers that it almost took all his breath away and that he couldn't believe how powerful Vader has become. Do you know what exactly happened nd was said?

“ Our lightsabers clash. I try to push forward, only to be thrust violently back. It's like striking iron. There's no give in Vader's arms, and far too much in mine.
...
"You should not have come back," Vader tells me.
My resources are depleted, my body screaming with pain. I have no hope of winning this fight.
He lunges at me; slash and counterslash, stab and riposte. The air is thick with plasma discharge, lights dancing on the edge of my vision.
I'm forced back, muscle burning, breath ragged. The grip of my lightsaber is slick in my hands, my ears ringing."
