lol i disagree completely. if i had black knight, i'd no doubt get his steed. if it were she-ra she'd 100% get her horse. i'd wager battle cat is used MORE often than that bike in battle scenarios. anyone else have an issue with it?

I say let He-Man have Battlecat

I say battle cat should be fair game.

Fair enough, I'm not meeting Leo so don't mind either way. Am just being consistent with my arguments with Blade and BT.

Like, does Black Bolt get Lockjaw? Kitty get Lockheed? It's not a question about how often they appear together, but that it's a completely separate character, that's all.

Semi tongue in cheek with my first comment, but I guess I just don't see pets/steeds as 'equipment'.

Maybe Mungi should weigh in on whether his dog is 'equipment', lol.

Phil will have the last word anyway....

Here is my opinion of standard equipment from a while back (and by that I mean 1 month and a half ago, lol)

In case of equipment, something that you can whip out without any prep being specifically done beforehand.

In case of semi-sentient or sentient tools, likes Thor's Mjolnir or Surfer's board, something that you have at you at all times except very particular storylines [Unworthy Thor, for obvious reasons].

In case of actual characters, something that is intrinsically the character and used to fight at all times [like Eddie/Venom], and not something that you only use once in a while, or is a completely separate being [like Robin].

I don't have the necessary knowledge on He-Man here to really give an informed opinion [hell, as leo knows, we're still talking about what version of He-Man IS He-man here, lol], but if it's not a "Venom" type of deal for a sentient being or a "Mjolnir" type of deal for a semi-sentient being, I'd lean towards it not being standard equipment.

As I'm talking to Leo, I'm thinking of having He-Man as Composite Comics [i.e. all comics in which He-Man has appeared are good to use] given the tourney has comic book appearances based characters. There is also the option to use Composite He-Man ALL [i.e. Comics, Movies, Animation].

Again -- my knowledge is insufficient here, so I'll be good with whatever the other participants want. I'd lean towards composite He-Man [comics, movies, anime] NOT being above low-herald from what I've seen [well, except when he was in comics appearing in Pre-Crisis DC and less than a handful of high stuff here and there] -- but just so you know that you'll have to do research by watching the movies and animation! 😂

Yes, it must be this size.

Yeah, fair. I’m not up against Leo either so it’s just my two cents: determining what counts as equipment is context-dependent, because comic book characters come in infinite forms, so hard and fast rules aren’t very useful. In this case, Battle Cat is a steed/mount, and so he’s more like equipment (Lobo’s bike) than he is like his own, stand-alone character.

As for Lockjaw, Lockheed, etc - imo, they might be equipment but not standard equip, which is a separate issue (lol, which Leo and I spent a big chunk of our debate arguing about).

I'm going to set Mungi on you lot.

Animals are our friends, not our tools 👆

Lol, they can be both. If someone steals my cat, I’d sue them for property theft, not kidnapping.

And like, Falcon would get Redwing.

pfft. what would you know about 'the law'?? lol

btw if this site doesn't sort itself out there's a good chance i won't be able to finish this thing at all. chrome and firefox both keep timing out and as i type this the formatting is completely f'd. not sure what to do about it....

i have a questions about mirror master: if he enters the mirror dimension, does that count as self bfr....? and is bfr available in these matches? for some reason i thought there was no bfr, but with mirror master in the match, this is a good time to double check. lol

I was thinking about this and it would be unfair for Bentley to have the Mirror dimension as anything other than part of the battlefield itself, so as for it not to be considered BFR when he uses it.

Participants -- please chime in on He-Man. Which version do you think it's appropriate to use here? A composite comic book version [i.e. all published comics], a composite all media version [comics, movies, tv]? Something else?

It's pretty tricky with He-Man. The original mini comics actually look more like children's books(also, apparently there are children's books of him but I couldn't find them when wanting to research). The mini comics differ a lot even in the 80's ones. His origin and exact powers.

Originally the Power Sword was split in two, I believe the two together would make a key, and He-Man and Skeletor each had a half. Originally He-Man was a barbarian type character brought from another dimension, who was naturally strong but had two different suits, one to enhance his strength, other his durability. And he used blasters and whatnot at the time. IIRC that's the version the live action movie was based on, so why he used laser guns but the cartoon didn't.

I also remember the mini comics having 3 different canons for his origin and how he was. And it seemed like both the DC and Star/Marvel comics were their own continuity(Hell I don't think the even the comic where Superman and He-Man fought and the limited series after were connected outside being published by DC).

This is just going by the 80's stuff. When I was going through He-Man I didn't make it to the 2000's comics from Image(and maybe another publisher?), let alone the stuff DC did more recently.

So basically in regards to canon, there isn't a reason to limit it to just comics as opposed to all media as even the mini comics aren't clear or consistent in continuity.

@phil regarding mirror master: i figured that's how it would go and that's completely fair. 👆

Leo confirmed that he will be using composite comics version 👆 As a fyi for the other participants.

So the deadline is for Wednesday.

1 post. PMd to me. Same rules [no bfr, etc]. Mirror dimension is not considered BFR.

Can he win via bfr?

Can he win?

The better question is how can he lose....? Like you and this tourney. If you lose this tourney I’m on record saying it will be the worst loss in tourney history. No pressure. 😂 there’s actually a lobo with clones vs ALL of Asgard. He’s definitely solidly in the mid herald category. 👆
