weird how they're pretending to not be sentient. why would they need to do that?
Seriously though... why? Is it an LGBTQ-type theme where they're afraid of persecution/pogrom so they stay closeted and hide their sentience? If so, why are they hiding it from superman? it's kinda way too deep into Asimov territory to be taken for granted
...unless it's just a gag and single-user plot arc designed only to attempt soliciting audiences' tears with a dramatic sacrifice scene, where Superman learns the truth about his android friends who happen to love him (yet didn't feel safe enough with him to come out of their collective closet)
Too deep man....you can't just mash shit like that together with a cartoon dog who behaves more like a cat (a cat would totally ignore your agony and scent of blood and demand food/play/petting/brushing/etc)
In regard to the dog...
Superman Director James Gunn Says His 'Terrible' Dog Inspired New Movie's Krypto
"He destroyed every single thing in my house," said the filmmaker. "He chewed up all my shoes, he chewed up my furniture, he chewed up my new $8,000 laptop. ... He was always following me around. He didn't seem to like me, he didn't want to play with me, would run away from me, would hide. I couldn't find [my shoes]. And whenever I was barefoot, which I usually am inside my house, he'd run around and bite my feet as hard as he could."
....
"And I thought, 'Oh my God, what if this dog had superpowers? That'd be fun,' " Gunn said, of how Ozu inspired Krypto in Superman.
I think it's his first dog. Someday he'll take a nasty spill in the house and the dog will immediately be a dog. Then he'll know he ****ed up.
Shoulda retconned krypto as a kittie. He'd save superman, but first he'd want butt pats. Cue Superman slapping kryptos butt at hypersonic speed, krypto meowing with delight. Then he brings superman back to the fortress

What kind of a dickhead spends 8K on a laptop?
