I think some form of physical contact should occur to constitute. Lust or covenence is just thought. It doesn't hurt anyone.

Usually somewhere casual and inexpensive. For my fiancé on our first date we went to a frozen yogurt place then to a cheap Mexican restaurant. That was all I had planned but we ended up enjoying our time together so much that we ended up going to another restaurant to get drinks and talk more.

My last girlfriend we just went to a coffee shop.

Be prepared to pay but also be ready for if she wants to split it. Either one is fine with me.
