Except the field wasn’t shown on panel and atom tells Superman to fry the couplers.
The actual black hole is only shown in flashback and when atom sees it while he’s inside Mnemon and uses his belt to equalize the mass generated inside the machine.
The fact the ship is still intact in the last page of the comic shows it didn’t implode.

the next page. Heat activated circuits contain the memories not the mag field and you still haven’t proved the field completely failed or disproved Superman’s on panel statement.
