Donald Trump ex President Thread: A thread for the collective and humourous fallout

The New York Post, a generally Far-Right outlet that has a history of defending Trump's nonsense has now dumped on him, dumped hard.

Trump’s silence on Jan. 6 is damning

As his followers stormed the Capitol, calling for his vice president to be hanged, President Donald Trump sat in his private dining room, watching TV, doing nothing.

For three hours, seven minutes.

There has been much debate over whether Trump’s rally speech on Jan. 6, 2021, constituted “incitement.” That’s somewhat of a red herring. What matters more — and has become crystal clear in recent days — is that Trump didn’t lift a finger to stop the violence that followed.

And he was the only person who could stop what was happening. He was the only one the crowd was listening to. It was incitement by silence.

Trump only wanted one thing during that infamous afternoon: to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to decertify the election of Joe Biden. snip

It’s up to the Justice Department to decide if this is a crime. But as a matter of principle, as a matter of character, Trump has proven himself unworthy to be this country’s chief executive again. -snip

The Murdoch's own the NYP, wondering if this sentiment will start appearing more and more on Fox News.

POLL: 41% of Republicans Support Trump Over GOP

Republicans who support Donald Trump more than they support the GOP climbed to 41 percent in August, up 7 points from May when 34 percent said they supported Trump more than the party, according to an NBC News poll released Sunday.

A slim majority of Republicans, or 50 percent, say they support the party more than they do Trump, the poll finds. But that is down from 58 percent in May.

Trump saw Republicans rally behind him this month yet again after the FBI searched his home in connection to an investigation into whether he violated the Espionage Act, among other statutes, by taking classified documents home with him upon leaving the White House.

That's a shit ton of Americans who support domestic terrorism, murdering government officials and throwing out elections if they don't go your way.

Cult. Of. Personality.

...

While funny, Trump wouldn't even need to do that, as the Cult of Trump has already excused him of stealing said documents via various excuses and blame shifting even before they knew the boxes contained top secret level documents. They excused him on day one.

Trump's lawyers sent a letter to the DOJ stating all material taken had been returned in June, which was an obvious lie. Trumpers don't care.

Agency identified 700-plus pages of classified records at Trump's home

The U.S. National Archives discovered more than 700 pages of classified documents at Donald Trump's Florida home in addition to material seized this month by FBI agents, according to a newly disclosed May letter the records agency sent to the Republican former president's attorney.

The large quantity of classified material in 15 boxes recovered in January by the National Archives and Records Administration, some marked as "top secret," provides more insight into what led to the FBI's court-authorized Aug. 8 search of Trump's residence at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach. -snip

Fox: Truth Social Has Stiffed Hosting Service for $1.6M

Truth Social, the Donald Trump-backed social network, aims to attract an "open, free, and honest global conversation" on its platform "without relying on hostile Big Tech companies," according to a new regulatory filing that offers a glimpse into the business.

A major obstacle to fulfilling that mission: The app has not yet attracted any paying advertisers, the filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission shows. And its parent, Trump Media & Technology Group, is losing money and "expects to incur significant losses into the foreseeable future," the filing said.

In the short term, Truth Social appears to be banking on an agreement that could help bolster its user base: It will have an exclusive window on Trump's messages, according to the filing.

That means even if Twitter lifts its ban on Trump, there would be a lag before his comments can appear on any other platform.

"Donald Trump has agreed not to compete with Truth Social for his own benefit," according to the filing from Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC), which is merging with Trump Media & Technology Group, or TMTG. The filing is a registration statement, or S-4, with the SEC about the proposed merger.

To be sure, Mr. Trump is no mere user of the Truth Social—he will serve as chairman of the new company following the merger, and stands to profit from its success given that he is also a major shareholder. In turn, TMTG said that in order to succeed it needs Trump to attract "millions" of his supporters to register for, and regularly use, its platforms.

The real test may be whether Truth Social can transform a head start on Trump's messages into revenue—so far, ad sales are nonexistent, according to the regulatory filing. The company has not yet started charging advertisers, and it may not book any ad sales from Truth Social until 2023, the filing said.

Whether advertisers will open their wallets for Truth Social in the long run remains uncertain, with many advertisers preferring to sidestep content seen as overtly political or controversial.

In 2021, TMTG booked just $2.1 million in "related party" sales from a "licensing agreement with one of the stockholders," although the filing does not provide additional details. It lost $59 million last year.

Among the filing's 66 pages of potential risks for investors are several related to Trump, including if he "were to cease to be able to devote substantial time to Truth Social." Trump's death, incapacity, or harm from "numerous" lawsuits also could impact the company's success, the filing warns.

And it flags Trump's prior track record running businesses: "A number of companies that were associated with Donald Trump have filed for bankruptcy. There can be no assurances that TMTG will not also become bankrupt."

Donald Trump's social media outfit, Truth Social, is locked in a bitter battle with one of its vendors claiming that the platform is stiffing the company out of more than $1 million in contractually obligated payments.

If the allegations are true, they would suggest that Truth Social's finances are in significant disarray, people with direct knowledge of the matter say. Internet infrastructure company RightForge is said to be among Truth Social's largest vendors and creditors, these people say.

In October, RightForge announced it entered into an agreement to host Truth Social, which Trump helped create after he was banned by Twitter following the January 6th riots.

Donald Trump's Truth Social website is facing financial challenges as its traffic remains puny and the company that is scheduled to acquire it expresses fear that his legal troubles could lead to a decline in his popularity.

The company has seen its stock price plunge nearly 75 percent since its March peak and reported in a filing last week that it had lost $6.5 million in the first half of the year.

In the days since the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, Truth Social's viewership has slowed, according to traffic estimates from Similarweb, an online analytics firm. Its U.S. audience has tumbled to about 300,000 views a day, down from nearly 1.5 million on the day of its launch.

Yesterday, Fox Business reported that Truth Social has not paid its hosting service in months and now owes them at least $1.6 million.

It's like you're saying Truth Social isn't the "biggest" and "bestest" social media out there? That can't be right.

Nothing in the documents released on Friday described the precise content of the classified documents or what risk their disclosure might carry for national security, but the court papers did outline the kinds of intelligence found in the secret material, including foreign surveillance collected under court orders, electronic eavesdropping on communications and information from human sources — spies. -snip

Seems some of what Trump stole from the White House could be the names and identities of our active undercover agents and he stored them in an unsecured location.

Selling government secrets to foreign countries seems to be more and more likely.

we used to execute criminals who did that, didn't we?

That or using said secret identities as leverage to blackmail. Not sure what other uses having the indentities of active undercover agents would be to an ex president.

Documents likely concealed at Donald Trump's Florida home - officials

Documents stored at former President Donald Trump's Florida home were likely concealed as part of an effort to obstruct an FBI investigation, Department of Justice officials say.

In a court filing, the department said "efforts were likely taken to obstruct" the investigation into Mr Trump's handling of classified material.

The filing was a response to Mr Trump's request for an independent party to oversee part of the ongoing case.

Mr Trump denies wrongdoing. -snip

So now they have the orange meatball lying (through his lawyers) on record back in June that all White House material had already been returned and then he tried to hide the material from investigates when they issued the search warrant in August.
