I’d back Hercules.
I think Aquaman’s faster but every other physical stat off personal feats should go to Herc. Even in Aquaman’s fight against the Hercules of his earth he was on the losing end till it got to the ocean and he caught Herc off guard not to mention the Herc he fought was a bit mindless. Which could make him a dumb fighter at the very least. I think Aquaman was holding back due to pity but I don’t see him putting Marvel Herc down just off physical force.
Via scaling I think it would be a pretty tough fight nonetheless.

But Superman wasn't even trying. If he hit Arthur with the same force that he uses to take down Mongul, Arthur would've been more than just winded. Arthur has a chance of winning this, but it would likely be due to his speed. Hercules at his prime levels holds the strength, and durability edge.
As far as tankiness is concerned between the two, in my opinion, the strongest between them would, or at least should logically also be the tougher of the two.
Hercules should at the very least be 1.5 strength tiers above Arthur. Shaking a planet, and taking Atlas' place was something that Hercules and Superman have done. I'm not sure if I'm remembering it correctly, but I think that Hercules actually had an easier time doing Atlas' job than Superman did. Again, maybe I'm not remembering it correctly. I wish I had the scans to compare.
Oh yeah, I think that Hercules is also the better fighter.

I really doubt that was the writers intent. Abnett did an interview before the issue of the fight suggesting Aquaman was one of the few members of the League that could challenge Superman in that way. Alongside Wonder Woman I could agree he didn’t showcase it well though but he also said if he thought the fight was one sided he wouldn’t have done it.
Johns being someone he talked to I believe before writing the fight. Same guy who penned Forever Evil where this statement was dropped.
Later on after the Superman fight. Abnett went on to have Aquaman fight Shaggyman who by intent of the writer was someone who was suppose to be more powerful than Superman. By statements like Aquaman saying Shaggyman hits harder than Superman and the Atlanteans doing research on Shaggyman and viewing him as a threat the League as a whole can’t ever seem to beat.

Wasn’t it said that whole lift the sky thing was the atmosphere? Personally I think Herc’s feat with Sunspot is more impressive. And overall do agree that Herc by feats at the very least is physically stronger than Aquaman. I think stuff like Atlan’s scepter attack while weakened and moving a tectonic plate showcases Aquaman isn’t really far behind though.

This is a closer than most people think. Look how Aquaman has done against Diana WITH her lasso. He's fought her to a stalemate multiple times. IMHO, AM wins after a good fight.
She used Zeus’s lightning against him as well and it just knocked both of them on their asses. Getting up moments later.

Sure if we are using a Superman who is holding back. If we used a Superman that hit Arthur with the same punching power that he hits Doomsday, or other characters above Arthur's weight class, things would've turned out differently.

Priest also had Superman hurt his hand punching Shaggyman.

I honestly think the way the fight was written was Abnett putting Aquaman against a Doomsday esque character and seeing how he stacked up and physically Aquaman couldn’t do much. So I agree for the most part. My only point being Abnett suggested if he didn’t think the fight was fair he wouldn’t do it, and he compared Aquaman to Diana in his idea for doing the fight.?

How strong is the mainstream Diana?
1. Town level?
2 City level?
3 State-Province level?
4 Country level?
5 Continental level?
6 Planetary?
7 Planetary plus?
Where does she weigh in?

She is pretty got darn strong. She stomped Shaggyman and pages before this, Shaggyman was stalemating the Justice League. Comics before this, he soloed the JLA.

She stomped Supergirl and she was stomping an amped Supergirl. Let me know if you want scans. Also, let me know if you want more showings as well.
