It's not Supes Jobbing, an often ignored power of Grundy is his ability to absorb energy. His body is particularly partial to magic energy but it also absorbs all types of radiation (including solar energy, which Superman is a walking battery of).
Pre 52 Grundy doesn't have as many "versions" as people think. When he fights against street levellers or ordinary bricks who aren't also loaded with energy he can drain (or flinging that energy around) he simply isn't as powerful as when he is near high energy sources. As Logan doesn't present him the energy source that Superman or Alan Scot or Dr Fate would, he shouldn't be on that level
