But you are just assuming that they care only about money. Maybe at one point it was only about the money, but i think it goes beyond that now.

They can have all the money in the world but still work towards a collective goal? If they do think the world is unsustainable in the future then why do you think they wont plan ahead to do something about it? I don't believe events are just happening randomly, and if they did think the world is going to be devastated in the near future they wouldn't go to the effort of eroding our freedoms bit by bit. All the control you are seeing at the moment should be setting off alarm bells. Its getting worse out there.

Scientists have claimed the world can sustain around 10 billion people. We sit at nearly 8 billion.

So if you're a ruler, you will assume one of two scenerios:

2. We cut down a few trees to save the forest.

Leaders murder people all the time. Our lives mean nothing to them, we regularly die off by the thousands for less.
