We are coming up on the 1,000,000th recored COVID death in the U.S., but it is just the flu, bro.
When the deaths keep piling up and up, their next narrative was versions of "COVID's only really killing the old and obese and those people were going to die anyways so COVID's really only killing a few people still". *honk* *honk*

Neglecting to realise that between old and obese that's the majority of Americans.
That's because they're breathing in toxic air 24/7 over in China.
Top 10 states in terms of obesity https://stateofchildhoodobesity.org/adult-obesity
1 Mississippi 2 West Virginia 3 Alabama 4 Louisiana 5 Indiana 6 Kentucky 7 Delaware 8 Iowa 9 Arkansas 10 Oklahoma
"The estimated annual health care costs of obesity-related illness are a staggering $190.2 billion or nearly 21% of annual medical spending in the United States." -snip
But tell a Rightist maybe they should take a little better care of themselves and they'll scream "Muh Freedomz!" in your face. Look what happened when they were asked to wear a mask in public during a pandemic.

It wasn't rightists freaking out when it was pointed out that obesity was one of the highest comorbidities for COVID-19 and that losing weight might help people not die unnecessarily.

At first I thought, lol Colorado is lowest, must be the weed. Then I looked at the figures and even they're over 20% obese.
For comparison, England is 28% and the EU is 17%
And it's kinda funny how almost all the purple states voted for Trump.

US is one of the most obese countries in the world, when it shouldn't be. The Italians with their love of pasta and bread are sub 20%.
Then you see a country like Eritrea with there under 5% obesity rate, but that's due to mass poverty and starvation, not overall health educated society.

Because it is a pointless observation. People did not become overweight overnight. It will take nearly as many years to lose the weight as it did for them to put it on, so it is not a realistic strategy for protecting themselves now. They are dealing with an accute respiratory virus now, not five years from now when they can lose enough weight to no longer be high-risk.

There was flat out denial that it was even an issue.
Using the "Oh well...too late now...might as well not bother doing anything about it" attitude sure works for everything else.
I'm sure they'll all be skinny come the next novel respiratory virus in a few years though.

So which is it? Did people deny that obesity was an issue, or state that it is too late to do anything about it in the midst of the situation?

Maybe. That advice was not going to help them with this one though, was it?
