Some people aren't meant to be soldiers or police officers or firemen. Unfortunately we never find out the wrong person has being paid to do something they will never be capable of until it is too late.
This wasn't just one or two cop who shit the bed, it was 20+ and if the rumor turns out to be true, they tried to cover their shittings up.

Evidently, Police Chief Daniel Rodriguez lied about the School Safety Officer and Active Shooter Trainer being present that day.
"Why," you may ask. Because that officer is his brother, Detective Ronald Rodriguez, who has since suspended all of his social media accounts.
Chief Daniel Rodriguez has also resigned.
A full 40% of the budget of the city of Uvalde goes to the police. And it appears that the police deparment was hiring unqualified friends and relatives, and treating the city budget as their personal slush fund.
That is why none of them had the courage to rush into the building when children were being shot. Because none of them were interested in doing actual policework. They are getting paid to hangout with their friends and family all day, and use public funds to pay themselves to take trainings they thought they would never need.

Then why are police departments around the country getting that 'Warrior's Mindset' seminar training?
Wouldn't it make more sense to work on testing to see who cracks and who doesn't? Simulations, ethical tests.
Hey, maybe even legal training.
Ideally, police shouldn't all be armed shock troopers. More diverse roles should exist in co-existence with the force and in it, which is the argument of some people when they say Defund the Police. As it is, the police are great at shooting black people, pets, and anyone with something in their hands. Not so great at dealing with active shooters.

With shit like this BLM might be on to something with Defund the Police.
After 9/11, American police got incredibly hardcore arms and tech to deal with stuff, even small town precincts. But none of them are worth a damn.

Do you have a source for all this?

The 40% of Uvalde's budget going to the police is confirmed last I checked from multiple sources. I was going to reference the Wikipedia article which in turn linked to a source for it, but when I went to Ongoing/Current Events and did a word search for "shooting", of the seven hits for domestic shootings this year, none were Uvalde. I guess in terms of mass shootings it's already old news.

We should abolish the police entirely. The police are a WHITE SUPREMACY organization.
While it's historically true that the police in some areas were complicit with and worked in favor of white supremacy, these days it's better to say that the police are more about rich people/land owner/property owner supremacy or rights.
It's why they don't give a **** about victims of crimes, but are perfectly willing to jail you forever or gun you down over some factory owner's property rights.
Footage Shows Uvalde Police Never Tried to Open Classroom Door

The Uvalde Police Department and the Uvalde Independent School District police force are no longer cooperating with the Texas Department of Public Safety's investigation into the massacre at Robb Elementary School and the state's review of the law enforcement response.A spokesman for Texas DPS, which is running the state's investigations, declined to comment. Last Tuesday's attack, one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history, left 19 children and two adults dead.
People are suggesting that some of the children may have been shot by the police when they shot Ramos. And that the hour they spent in the hallway, not allowing paramedics in or students out, was so they could get their stories straight. Now that investigators are synchronizing the 9-1-1 recordings with the video surveillance, they are realizing they are ****ed, and have decided to stop cooperating.
Police officers responding to last month's mass shooting at a Uvalde, Texas elementary school never even tried to open the door to the classroom where young children were trapped with the gunman, according to a new report.
A law enforcement source said on Saturday that surveillance footage revealed no attempts by officers to open the door during the entire 77-minute siege at Robb Elementary School.

If we apply the logic here that has been applied elsewhere it would lead us to ban or greatly restrict police officers. One thing police officers are real good at is writing reports. Unless we verify everything they say we don't know diddly squat about anything.
Or they could just use bodycams they can't switch off.
Originally posted by SmasandianThat's true too, but I think we can have a toilet break cam switch and make it impossible to switch off in a situation controlled by the station. So the cop has to say on arrival to a situation he is engaging, the cam then can't be switched off until he says situation resolved. An AI could probably do it.
I get the mentality but that's unrealistic. They have to be able to switch off bodycams. It's invasion of the privacy to have the camera running while they are taking a shit/piss.

So the Uvalde cops lied again.

If one person there was worth a pinch of sh*t this would have been different. Not one of them is willing to cross the blue line and hold the others accountable. Happens every time. If you get one good one that tries he gets ostracized by the rest of the force. Even the command doesn't want anything but to pat themselves on the back and tell the public how lucky we are.
