when they should in fact own up to their responsibilities.
Yes, which is why they get an abortion. Very responsible.

and how do you come to this conclusion?
Because it is not always the right thing to bring another child to the world. Not for the parents and also not for the child.
Let me ask you, you as Christian, believe that a fetus has a soul, right? What happens, in your mythology, to a fetus that's aborted?

sorry, I just saw the question. I just woke up, and FJ drank all the damn caffeine...
my answer: my OPINION is that yes, a fetus has a soul. and when it is aborted, it goes to heaven, as do all children too young to grasp the concept of god (ie: infants and toddlers)

That's what I thought. But isn't that like perfect for the fetus then? It might be brought up by atheists (likely, since abortions are frowned upon by Christians) and will never be saved and go to hell. Don't you think it is better the innocent child gets saved instead of having a big chance to be tormented in hell?
I mean, it is a win-win situation. The parents will not have to be forced to take care of it, the mother doesn't have to go through 9 months of pain and the fetus will be happy for an eternity.
What is, going by that assumption, your beef with the whole abortion thing?
Originally posted by Bardock42I wouldn't call it a beef. To do that implies that I am an activist, which I am surely not.

win win? life is a gift, man. every moment we spend as mortals on this earth is to be savored. sure, heaven and paradise await those who love god, and thats awesome, but every potential soul, every potential life, is meant to spend even a little time here on earth.
I thought they were supposed to go to limbo. Did that get retconned?
What of a fertilised oocyte where the male and female pronuclei have yet to fuse? Does that go to heaven too?
And the 25-50% of conceptions that result in spontaneous abortion before 20 weeks gestation? Have the zygotes and fetuses all gone to heaven? If so what's the point of the pregnancy at all? Why don't the souls just bypass the physical and go straight to heaven? Did they not roll a high enough number to pass GO?

yes, pregnancy can still occur. but what about a girl who gets pregnant and was not using control? what then?

I wouldn't express any views to the hypothetical woman, since it's not my body. Try again. Try harder.
