*Sighs*What have I been saying this entire debate? The United States is not a direct democracy. It is a representative democracy. That is what I've been saying. I've been telling you to look up these terms so you could differentiate between the two. I'm unwilling to debate you further, because you've distorted the debate into something trivial.
you people suck just as bad as him if you allow this to derail for 5 more ****ing pages. stfu

There were 1.29 million abortions in the U.S. in 2002, the most recent year for which figures are available. Since abortion became legal in 1973, more than 42 million abortions have occurred in the U.S.Women under the age of 25 have 52 percent of abortions; teenagers have 19 percent.
Black women are more than 3 times and Latino women are 2 1/2 times as likely as white women to have abortions.
Two-thirds of all abortions are had by women who have never been married, and more than 60 percent are had by women who have one or more children.
43 percent of women having abortions are Protestant; 27 percent are Catholic.[b]
Each year, approximately 13,000 women have abortions after being the victims of rape or incest.
that suggests that roughly 70% of all abortions in america are practiced on christians. assume what you wish about those particular christians, but there you have it. only 30% of people having abortions in america are not christian. now, filter out jews, buddhists, hindus etc and then you'll get the percentage which are 'godless' athiests, which is definately below 30% and likely far lower than that.
thats right. 7 out of 10 'baby killers' in america accept christ as their personal savior. HAHAHA
(thank you RJ for proving yourself useful...though im sure i shouldnt get used to it)

It doesn't need to be stated that it's a democracy, because it should be common knowledge. It is, but obviously this doesn't apply to you as you have no idea about anything.
EDIT:

Hm. The figures concur with what I've always thought. Abortion is not something defined by religious predispositions. Raising a child is expensive. For someone under the poverty line, it would be nearly impossible.
Which brings me back to the topic at hand. Until the same aforementioned conservatives bring support to impoverished mothers, then how can they can expect said mothers not to opt for abortion. If you can barely make it on your own, taking on the added responsibility of rearing a child would be... suicidal.
[edit] Constitutional republics
A constitutional republic is a state where the head of state and other officials are elected as representatives of the people by the people and whose power is limited by constitution which protects individual liberty from being violated by the majority of the people or by government officials.United States of America

wouldnt popular will fall under 'morality'?
Isn't morality subjective? Depending on the outcome, a lot of people wouldn't call it morality. I personally believe in a more oligarchial system of deciding. The public is too liable to change its passions and prejudices. At least legislative decisions are more consistent and constant.

Finally! Back to the topic at hand. Then how should limits on abortion be defined? Popular will?
Depends on the nation, in the U.S. our representatives pass and vote on the laws that's their job. Abortion should be limited to what the Consitution stands for plain and simple. Whenever popular vote decides an issue it means it's not fuly understood, which is why the U.S. is the way it is.

Depends on the type of Government.
