Whether it's LEGAL or not boils down to only whether society decides when it's legal...
Whether it's DISGUSTING or not is pretty self evident.
Regardless of whether you call a 16 week fetus alive or not... if you couldn't bring yourself to do it YOURSELF and STARE INTO ITS EYES as you SNUFF it, because you're too DISGUSTED AND ASHAMED... then it's pretty disgusting.
The proof is in people's inability to MAKE themselves look at that thing and COMMIT the act with eyes wide open.
The only way most people could commit abortion on a 16 week fetus, is by closing their eyes, using some convoluted words to RATIONALE it away, all the time REFUSING to stare into the face of that miniature person (while repeating the mantra: "it's not a person yet, so I shouldn't feel guilty... I can't even look at it, but I'm not a bad person..." )

There was a law that almost passed in some state(or did pass?), where the women would have to look at her ultrasound (pictures) before the abortion was performed. The "it's just a fetus, blob, tumor, parasite" crowd didn't like that because it was "cruel" to the woman.
(Your) Point is, it's easier to do something potentially harmful or wrong when you don't have to face it; it's true.

I actually did have a pregnancy scare with my girlfriend, so I can honestly say this.
I will never advocate abortion. There's a really horrible irony in it, I believe. First you deny to yourself that there is a living human, albeit a developing one, involved. Then you end the very life you're in denial about. I cannot get myself to respect anyone who's too fricking selfish to really ponder on that. If the prospect of having a child won't wake a person up (and don't give me that whole "she's too young for a baby" bullpoo; I've seen teenage girls make really tough decisions), then what the frick will?
