I probably would say he's used his magnetic powers with greater diversity. At least he's done things with magnetism that I've never see Mags do (mind you I'm far from well versed on Magneto, I read Xmen for about half a decade maybe 2/3 max)

1. Magnetic black hole used vs the Ray
2. Used magnetics to control light to
* project illusion and make himself look gigantic in both The Ray and Teen Titans
* Drain Supes of solar energy, blinds him and cuts him off from solar radiation. It was a couplenof action issues from the 00s. It was written by Gail Simone IIRC.
3. Uses magnetics to control the weather. In a JLA issue in about 2004 he manipulated the entire planets weather pattern, in the early issues of the Ray he whips up a storm.
4. Finally he's used magnetism to achieve mind control a few times. The best of which was in Teen Titans where he controlled Magenta from the magnetic dimension that GL had trapped him in.
I have to ask myself if this showing might be how he could beat Mags. Clearly mags would also have ,"excessive magnetic waves" in his brain. Could he resist?? After all unlike Magenta he wouldn't have help.

He’s also done other random shit like use magnetism to turn H2O into H and O, pull ions out of the air to make objects, use EM to disrupt telepathy across earth, and occasionally use his own form of telepathy (presumably unrelated to magnetism, but it is what it is).
And then there’s stuff like modifying Proteus’ energy matrix through electron-level control.
