It would mean either he was mentally ill, and if not, then would give some credence to the idea that he was already in the house, boinking one if not both of them.
If he had a hit list, then have to question how mentally ill he was. Because That just sounds like a terrorist. Now arguably all terrorists are mentally ill to some degree, but we shouldn't pick and choose which ones we declare mentally ill based on how serious or bad we decide the actions were.
