Worse, as the ownage happens on many levels.
Series starts with Mary Jane giving Peter a silent treatment, ignoring his stalker calls, siccing her powerless boyfriend on him, who puts Peter in his place with a single haymaker... then he goes after Peter again, only to find out that he is a broke ass loser who can't take care of himself or his aunt --- MJ's chad bf shakes his head and pays some of Peter's debts out of pity.
And then you have Norman Osborn making fun of him, "hiring" him as a babysitter for his grandkids, as you saw.
Ironically, that book also happens to be the best SM read in like a decade or so. Or even since Straczynski left.

Surfer has surefire ways of winning. Creating Kryptonite or just generate Kryptonite-radiation has already been mentioned, draining Supes's cells off solar energy is another, and blasting him with red stellar radiation is another still.
If you accept that Surfer can do any of these things (which is perfectly reasonable considering he's done similar things) then you directly concede that there are ways for Surfer to defeat Supes.
However, whether or not Supes can hurt the Surfer, is up in the air. Surfer casually and repeatedly surfs on supernovae--blasts that would incinerate Superman if they as much as touched him.

Surfer can't do any of the kryptonite based stuff and he needs to create a red sun to gradually depower Superman.
