Will Mike Johnson allow any additional funding to get Ukraine, or has Democrats voting to remove Kevin mcCarthy indirectly lead to Ukraine losing the war?
We'll have to see, but McCarthy was going to flip against the funding sooner than later.

He is not Putin's puppet. Honestly never liked that this idea is being pushed. He is Russia's useful idiot. Someone Putin will effortlessly use to his advantage. Conservatives are already pushing the narrative that suits Putin perfectly. America first, decrease support for Ukraine, push for "peace". All while Russia's troll farms (that were not shut down with Prygozhin's murder) are helping stir shit and convince you people that there is no bigger threat to national security than black little mermaid and unisex toilets.

😆

And yes.

No, I see what you're saying there, and I get it, but those 8 Republicans have openly been against said aid to Ukraine. They voted to remove McCarthy, partially to achieve EXACTLY the end that Ukraine loses. So they voted for exactly what they want, and what they say they want.

Democrats are almost more to blame here for this, in a much less honest way, because they voted against McCarthy as well, without a clear plan to ensure that the next guy would be friendly to Ukraine. They could have avoided this, and they decided not to. Now they are going to try to pin the blame for the collapse of Ukraine on the Republicans, when they are definitely to blame as well.

You, right now:

Yeah, pretty much. McCarthy was going to give Democrats something they wanted. Mike Johnson will not. What did they gain?

I guess what I'm saying is, they ****ed up. Weren't very savvy politically. Would rather make the other guys look bad then get what they actually need to get.

I guess you missed the part in which Democrats met with McCarthy in order to cut a deal to save his speakership, and he refused to offer them any concessions, leaving them united against him.

But it is easier for you to blame Democrats for Republican failings.

I'm not sure- I kinda think this might be where I differ from a lot of liberals. I still think compromise that actually shows some results is better than partisanship that shows none.

Compromise requires concessions from both parties. McCarthy was offering none. So what you are complaining about is that Democrats did not just roll over and give Republicans everything they wanted in exchange for nothing.

No, I'm talking about the Ukraine issue. McCarthy was going to bring that vote to the floor. He, like many Republicans, supported that aid. Johnson never will. Whatever deal Democrats were trying to secure from McCarthy, it wasn't that. I'm guessing they were trying to get the impeachment proceedings dropped. That's purely hypothetical though.

Democrats do not care about fake impeachment proceedings.

Wario!

^Is case you missed this. It's likely why McCarthy refused to make a deal that was beneficial to both him and Democrats before expulsion vote.

McCarthy also has a history of making deals and then reneging or asking for further concession after hands were shaken. He's a known snake.

Yeah, I agree with that rob-- the fact that McCarthy was the best option the Republicans brought to a vote is its own kind of sad. That party is lost

I don't think Johnson's going to be able to govern well in the long run, he's too far to the Right and anti Ukraine for the handful of Republican moderates, add the very slim margin of majority Republicans have in the house and it looks like a another shitshow waiting to happen.

We'll see obviously, maybe he'll be able to bully them into submission, as they are a party of cowards.

Russian media retract report of retreat; Ukraine war hotspot Avdiivka under ‘massive’ Russian shelling

Never a retreat, but a tactical withdrawal, comrades.

Meanwhile in America, the Rightwing is now spinning hard that the war in Ukraine/Russia and Israel/Gaza is Biden's fault, apparently he caused Putin and Hamas to attack 🙂
