It depends on your size and physical activity. Other factors matter like metabolism and even weather(your body uses more calories when it's cold to keep warm).
For example, in BUD/S(Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training) they're, depending on the weather and planned activity, consuming from 4,000 to 8,000 calories a day. But they're not getting fat, because they're constantly active.
In Ranger School they only get an MRE a day which is designed for what the average soldier in the field will need. Ranger School is a lot more than that. So they lose a ton of weight and are in terrible shape after.
During the later parts of Survival School, in a simulated prison camp, they're not very active but sleep deprived, put under immense stress, and only given water. They lose weight. In fact it f ucks with their boys(the stress hormones). They actually tested sperm count just after it and they were basically shooting blanks(no pun intended). What does that part have to do with weight loss? F uck you, that's what. 😆
