I know prosecutors do not have to prove intent here to prove a crime, but why is no one really talking about Trump's intent?
It's unreasonable to believe Trumpp stole boxes and boxes and boxes of our government secrets and them lied about it over and over and over just because he likes boxes and paper, or some nonsense "he just didn't know" excuse I've heard Trumpers spewing now.
The contents of those boxes would be worth high millions to the right foreign governments, Trump and people close to him like Donnie Jr and Jared Kushner would know this as well. eg Saudi Arabia would pay 100s of millions to learn what we know of Iran's nuclear power, military strengths and weaknesses.
Knowing intent is important here.

William Barr, the former US attorney general who served under Donald Trump, has said the ex-president is "toast" if allegations he mishandled classified documents are proven to be true.
Mr Barr criticised his former boss and said he had no right to keep the files allegedly found at his home.
Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, Mr Barr, who was Mr Trump's attorney general from February 2019 until December 2020, defended the 37-count indictment made public by Special Counsel Jack Smith on Friday.
"I was shocked by the degree of sensitivity of these documents and how many there were... and I think the counts under the Espionage Act that he wilfully retained those documents are solid counts," he said.
"If even half of it is true, then he's toast. It's a very detailed indictment and it's very damning," he added. -snip

Seems the prosecutor is keeping his word and attempting to go to trial in August, or asap. Trump's going to try to delay this as much as he can, the closer it is to election time, the more he can cry "election interference!", because being a criminal doesn't count when it's him and Trumper's love gobbling his lies.
If the judge wasn't a degenerate Rightist, she'd put a sensible time limit on how much Trump's lawyers can delay.

An audio recording in which Donald Trump appears to acknowledge keeping a classified document after leaving the White House has been obtained by US media.
In the recording, the former president is heard riffling through papers and saying: "This is highly confidential".
It has not been independently verified by the BBC.
Mr Trump has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of mishandling sensitive files.
CNN was the first to publish the roughly two-minute clip, and said it comes from a July 2021 interview that Mr Trump gave with people working on the memoir of his former chief of staff Mark Meadows.
Mr Trump is heard saying "these are the papers" and referring to a document he calls "highly confidential".
