There are times that both would win against each other. Orion in a titanium box, or shenanigans like that would bag Surfer the win. My thing with Orion is who outside of New Genesis or Apokolips has he fought? What was the outcome?

Orion and the New Gods casually owned Hal and the Lanterns, which included Sinestro, John, Guy, etc...

The Surfer, his board, and ability to alter molecules, including physical density altering, mucking around with the genes of terrestrial Life forms are things that should not be ignored. Anyone can argue a poorly written character. In a Death Battle where both characters are using their abilities intelligently backed by prior showings, there is no reason why a competent Surfer would not absolutely dominate. Orion would be fighting Casper the friendly ghost with the ability to place stars in your intestines.

He can become both invisible, and intangible at the same time. If we did an exotic powers count between the two of these characters, the Surfer makes Orion nearly look like a one trick pony.

In a forum setting, I lean towards the Surfer taking this.
