He didn't say it was canon. He said it took place in a canon story.

If 616 Reed crosses dimensions and appears in the Marvel Zombie universe, that doesn't make the Marvel Zombie Hulk = 616 Hulk.

It's still canon to 616 Reed that he crossed dimensions, sure, but that doesn't make the two universes the same one.

Sticking with Maker as an example: during Ultimate Invasion, Maker broke out of his prison on Earth-616, built the Immortus Engine, and proceeded to create/reshape an alternate Earth(designated 6160) in his own image. Understand? In the middle of the main/canon story, an alternate Earth was created that is not connected to 616 in any way. That kind of thing literally happens all the time in Marvel... Doesn't make said alternate realities any less alternate(even though the rest of the story might be set in 616.)
