Evil Dead hit it right on the money. Exec's figured that the tasteful one liners in DW was the cause for it's success, from here they made Fred Kruger, the child molesting murderer that hides in shadows and slaughters people in there dreams into a spotlight comedian.
Horror movies are successful when they are scary, not funny. They turned Freddy into something we no longer feared.
Thank goodness Craven took the helm for the New Nightmare and fixed that.

Anyway, looks like the ball is in your court Evil Dead.

btw, I do agree, even though I love all the Nightmare movies, I think they made it too cheesy after 3... Nightmare 1 and New Nightmare are deffinately my faves.

You didn't say it was different from the first.......you said different than the rest of them in the series. It's not because Wes Craven didn't write it, Wes Craven only wrote parts 1 and 7.......he consulted on some other movies and was credited as executive producer because he created the characters. That's it. He had nothing to do with writing parts 3 or 8 which were the two movies I mentioned. In both parts, 3 and 8, Freddy takes control of a person's sleeping body.
