Y'know how hard it is to type in the name of the thread, and search for it?

Thanks for catching that, http://www.killermovies.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7201 .
Anyways this movie almost sucked as much as Blade.
Well, kids, I made good on my now 1 month old post to catch "Resident Evil" Apocalypse" at the $2 theatre. I've got to say it was money well spent! 😱
"RE:A" was a very meaty movie, meaning where as "Resident Evil" was all setup, "Apocalypse" trimmed the fat and gave us 100% Rated R beef.
In a nutshell, I was thoroughly entertained, and I think a lot of you are expecting a little too much from a summer blockbuster by Paul W.S. Anderson of all people. Like "AVP", had someone who was a fan of the works helmed the movie, the overall production could have been a little more crisp.
DVD is out on 12/28, it's loaded, and I'm buying. I'll also gladly discuss the movie in depth if you want to know exactly why I liked it.
Firstly, I disagree that it was better than the first, just because "Apocalypse" was somewhat messy, and a little too busy. The original was basic, easy to follow, and not as "thick" as the sequel. The characters had a lot more depth to them. Not to mention the incredible suspense, coupled with the Marco Beltrami/Marilyn Manson score.
What I liked about "RE:A" was this:
* They bridged the two movies very cleverly, in addition to shedding some light as to what was going on in Raccoon City while Alice was in stasis. Always helpful.
* Alice was just sick this time around, like Ripley in "Alien:Resurrection", which I still feel is underrated, and overlooked.
Milla, especially towards the end when she's being probed by Umbrella, regaining her consciousness was like.."Ohhh shit.." to watch.
* There were some really solid, well choreogrpahed action sequences, and for someone who isn't a huge fan of action movies, I enjoyed this one.
* I really liked the speed frame, choppy cinematography at times. It was different, and the camera effects used when Jill and Alice were offing zombies reminded me of the new "Dawn of the Dead".
* Nemesis. He looked like The Chatterer from "Hellraiser" with Blaine's "Ol' Painless" mini cannon from "Predator", and the inner workings of "The Terminator". That's a winning combo for a Sci Fi buff, and while he looked somewhat silly, the fact he didn't have but one speaking line saved his character.
* Milla(Alice) again..just busting into the church and cleaning house was dope.
* Sienna Guillory 's character, Jill, was fun to watch. Kind of reminded me of Alice in the original, just a little more carefree.
*..and just things along the way, like some certain scenes, including the camera angles, various cinematography tricks, other Sci Fi elements, and of course Mike Epps, lol.
Like I said, it's Paul W.S. Anderson, it's a sequel, and it's a video game movie. Had there been a little less action, and a little more coherent story, it would have been a lot better and more enjoyable for a lot of people.
It's just a fun movie to watch, nothing worthy of Oscar nods. Another summer blockbuster that is getting WAY too much flak from people actually expecting character development, a "meaningful" storyline, and whatever else from an intentionally dumbed down film.
Resident evil apocalypse has to be one of the most brilliant movies that i have ever seen.
Paul W.S. Anderson may not be one of the worlds greatest directors (AvP had so much more potential but that was lost somewhere?!?)
but his skills certainly shine through when coming up with movie plots and stories (yet again AVP the story was great just poorly directed)
People on these forums speaking of the film not being scary.
It certainly made me jump more than once and the nemesis was really cool.
Any hard fans of the first resident evil would have or should have known straight away who nemesis was!
Anyway im keepin an eye out for ResEvil3 as Alice was a bit freaky near the end!
Gaz
^ I am opposite to you lol i wasn't a big fan of the games (but thats all games that are long and have to be completed not only this one) but liked Apocolypse alot the first wasn't as good for action but the 2nd wasn't as good for plot so i think it evens itself out.
i want to see the 3rd just to see what the story is going to be lol
