TOM BOMBADIL AND THE SCOURING OF THE SHIRE ARE TWO OF THE BEST THINGS THAT EVER HAPPENED IN THE LORD OF THE RINGS! AND WHAT IS THIS ABOUT PURISTS? I DON'T HAVE TO BE A PURIST TO THINK THAT NOT HAVING THOSE THINGS WAS A BAD THING TO DO!

these were my least fav parts

Least favourite parts of a LOT of people. Fans are a wide bunch of folks.

PJ would have to do something really really really drastic to make me mad and he's not going to do anything crazy so I'M EXCITED

As it so happens, I am NOT just a fan of Tolkien for the action, I have been a Tolkien fan far longer than you, thank you very much, and I have always appreicated the full depth of the Tolkien universe.

But the fact remains that I believe Scouring is just crap, and that or Tom Bombadil on film would NOT HAVE WORKED.

I am a true Tolkien fan, as is Peter Jackson, and if you start insulting my beliefs like that again I shall consider it a flame and take action. I hope that is clear. Just calm the hell down and don't be so narrow-minded about thinking a 'true fan' has to think just like you.

I'm not narrow minded, for your information! But, besides... I did add that I was sorry for going overboard like that.

The reason why I feal so insulted is because I loved both Tom Bombadil and the scouring of the Shire imensely, and your utter lack of interest of them pushed me over the edge... Once again, I am sorry. I didn't want to hurt your fealings, but it got out of hand, and I went too far. Way too far. I admit that I was wrong to say those things, and I am truly sorry.

Ok then. But if you want to prove you are not narrow-minded, you need a bit more respect for what other people feel.

i hears sam dies because it says sam leaves his master for the dead

he doesnt

um no sam doesnt die...where did you hear that?

Probably it's just a rumour. Sam shouldn't die.

probably meaning when he leaves cause he thinks frodo is dead
????

well sam dies in the appendix...but like EVERYONE (excluding some elves) dies in the appendix so that doesnt count. but sam doesnt die in the initial ROTK, he gets married to rosie and has a whomping load of kids 😄

SAM DOESN"T DIE IN THE BOOKS AT ALL!

And I quote (from the Time-line section in the LotR appendixes):
"1482 Death of Mistress Rose, wife of Master Samwise, on Mid-years Day. On September 22 Master Samwise rides out from Bag End. He comes to the Tower Hills, and is last seen by Elanor, to whom he gives the Red Book afterwards kept by the Fairbairns. Among them the tradition is handed down from Elanor that Samwise passed the Towers, and went to the Grey Havens, and passed over the Sea, last of the Ring-bearers."

i think it would suck if N. Korea nuked us before we got to see ROTK i'd be so pissed ... they can atleast wait til like feb. or something

hahah well yes that would be incredibly unfortunate...

yeah once i see ROTK my life will be complete

Worse thing he could do is add scourching of the shire. It has no point in the movie and rag it on enother 30 min. Dont get me wrong I loved it in the book but it just doesnt go with the movie cause think about it after the main pointof trilogy is done destroying the ring then out of no were they add this brand new conflict after the main focus of the movie is done. people would jus get annoyed by this ik i would but its good in the book but does not belong in the movie plus peter jackson gave it a tribute in the first movie when frodo looks in the mirror so u know he does care but smart to take it out.

Tom Bombadil would not be parallel to the story. In FOTR, PJ was trying to establish Frodo's struggle, to put the emphasis on Frodo. These three movies all have to be on the same page, otherwise it would be just too confusing for people who have not read the book or who are not familiar with the story. PJ had the daunting task of having to appeal to BOTH sides of the audience. Although they are great in the book, Those two events just aren't parallel to the rest of the story concerning the movie.

Have them wait till next year to Nuke....
I want the EE of ROTK first 😎

true once i have my day where i watch each extend version one right after the other... let n. korea have their fun lol

It would screw up royaly if they had any corny jokes, like R2D2 and C3PO, in starwars episode II 😘
