Religion?

Religion?

I was just wonder what everyone's religious beliefs are...I've alway found it interesting how people's interest in SW is influenced by their belief system..

If you don't want to say that's fine...I just thought I'd put it out here because I've been curious.

As for me....I wasn't raised in a religion so I tend to consider multiple possiblities of things instead of concretely deciding this is right and that is wrong...Not that I don't know the difference between right and wrong. I mean that I don't like to pick one belief over another.

Just so you know why I haven't responded, I don't like to be open about my religion. 🙂 I DO have one though.

Whats yours Dim?

I understand UBH..alot of people like to bash others about things like that...so I don't blame you.

I don't belong to an organized religion EJ..(much to my Mom's dismay) I studied alot of New Age stuff when I was younger...and read up on some Eastern, Christian and Islamic stuff but there's just something that weirds me out about the whole organized thing. I don't feel comfortable with it.

Can I answer this after I've finished sacrificing this young virgin....

Religeon

I was raised a Catholic but have become extremly lax in following it's teachings. I go to church only twice a year and that's with my parents at XMas and Easter. I agree with Dim that some aspects of religeon are wierd in that the whole structured system no longer serves the same important purpose it did a few hundred years ago. However, as I grow older and maybe start a family it's hard to say what my opinion on religeon will be.

Re: Religion

Yeah, I've noticed that most people tend pay attention to religion as the get older. Alot of people I know who had pretty much ignored religion in their teens and early adulthood went back to the religion they were raised in...even if they weren't that involved in it in the first place. Someone once told me that what religion you are is mostly a matter of geography...I'd have to agree with that.

Re: Religion

Most people in Germany don't call it church, here its called a Citadel. I visit four days a week, once in morning, once in the evening, for a three hour prayer-session, and a two-hour extension sermon on Sunday. As you might tell I am VERY religious.

Re: Religion

Beats sacraficing a goat I suppose...

Re: Religion

UBH, it's nice to see you take your faith so seriously. Where I live I see alot of people who treat their religion like a social club, it's very disappointing.
Side question...Who watched TV evangelists growing up? I did...but I shouldn't have.

Re: Religion

I never saw a TV until I was 13 or so. We were very technologically-burdened. Anyhow, I don't watch that.

Re: Religion

Smart Smart man...Anyway the reason I asked was because I think it was watching them when I was little is one of the reasons why organized religion freaks me out...they yell and jump around and tell you you're going to hell. Then I would go to funerals and see whomever yell and jerk around and everyone that they were going to hell...so I'm sure that helped put me off the whole idea.

Re: Religion

Never seen them 🙁

Re: Religion

I wouldn't be sad about it...I don't know, some people like that. My husband grew up in a very reserved religion so he's always wanted to go to one of those churches to see what they're like. I can't handle it though.

Re: Religion

You follow religeon more as you grow older for 3 reasons:
1) Fear of the after life(sucking up to the lord)
2) You want your kids to be religeous
3) Dwindeling social life(teens/young adults don't have this probem right EJ🙂 )

None

Apart from my Irish Catholic grandfather, none of my family are religious at all, so I don't follow anything. If I were to become religious I'd like to become Buddhist, although I'm not sure I could cope with being a vegetarian.

MMMMMMMMM...........chicken. 🙂

Re: None

Yeah but not all Buddhists are vegetarians..It sounds like we're in the same boat DD..🙂

Re: None

I'm your basic vest pocket type Roman Catholic and make a good attempt at attending once a month, although I pray everyday even if its only for 45 seconds at a red light as am ambulance goes by and I pray that whoevers inside comes out okay. I don't have any kids (my 3 dogs are my kids) but if I ever did have any, I'd let them follow whatever path they'd want (except Satan, of course, then I'd have to step in and use the Jedi mind trick on them !!!!)

By the way, DD, don't you know EVERYTHING tastes like chicken ??

Re: None

Not everything. Nothing can beat the great taste of that brown suckulant shiny soft meat as you chew it slowly in your mouth. 🙂

Actually DD, I'm a pasta maniac. Don't get me wrong, I didn't make a 10 pound stuffed roast turkey two weeks ago for nothing, but I could eat pasta at least four or five days a week and I'm not even italian !!!
