Without prep, Illuminati gets easily blitzed.

With just a few minutes of prep, the stomp goes the other way around; Strange with protections prepared and fully up alongside Xavier can easily mentally dominate most of the Annihilators, with only maybe Surfer resisting temporarily.

Reed with a few minutes of prep time could go and grab some contraption out of his gadget closet as well and ready it to go off at the start of battle.

Surfer for sure would resist any mental assault from Xavier and Quasar is immune to mental take over. Those two alone would wreck the majority of the Illuminati. Also Branlor had scans of a Surfer clone taxing Strange and his mystic shields.

Without prep the Illuminati is dying painfully.

Mister Fantastic sucks so much, his very powerset is cursed.

That's why Wolverine w/ MF powers was less effective than regular Wolverine.

Reed still gets one-shotted on the beginning of this battle. He's the worst fighter in all comic universes.
