It’s the “final” battle between New Genesis and Apokolips, and its Orion and Darkseid squaring off. Darkseid was near defeat and absorbed all the power from Apokolips for one final attack and Orion summoned all the remaining Astro Force power he had and they both ended up killing each other and destroying Apokolips. However, Darkseid made a contingency plan for this

This is after Darkseid was brought back from the dead by Desaad, and not fully back to full health. So Superman and the heroes traveled in time to attack Darkseid when he was weak, and before he destroyed practically the universe. With his death it stopped all the evil things he did after his resurrection and Superman doesn’t die, neither do his kids or the New Gods

Galactus comes to Apokolips to absorb it’s energy, however, Darkseid is not going to let that happen without giving up a fight. He first sends an armada after Galactus, then his own constructs which greatly stagger the space god, turning Silver Surfer against his master, and in the end shows why he is the Lord of Terror and acts on his own.
