I didn't fully read it but I gathered that this will be like a 3rd person 4X strategy game with a story.
Hopefully they don't take too much away from makes Bioware a great developer. All sounds good but if there isn't a compelling story with awesome missions, I'm going to be disappointed.
It will probably have a connection to the original series but the universe is expansive enough to have a different set of enemies and world you can explore.
For me, Mass Effect series was such a fun and amazing experience because the universe your character lives in is such an unique and diverse place. I have no problem with a new set of stories taking place in that universe because it's big enough to do so.
What your basically saying is, "what's the point of KOTAR if it doesn't involve Darth Vadar".
Uh, no. What I said is what's the point of Mass Effect game if it has almost no connections to the games. KotOR had plenty of connection to the Star Wars movies, very big ones as well and of course the TotJ comics. But thanks for strawmanning what I said. I never cease to get tired of that.
It's connection is the ****ing universe Mass Effect takes place in. Bioware has always made the universe front and centre in the series. One of the reasons why every single system you can travel to had in-depth details for each planet. And most of the planets referenced long forgotten wars between forgotten races that were destroyed be Reapers.
And I assume they will mention what happened in the previous three games. You have no idea if they will or will not. All they had said is that the Sheppard story arc is done which a lot of fans want. I'm pretty sure most people in this thread previously stated they wanted a new story set in the universe and not Sheppard.
Bioware just sounds like they're going in the direction of Dragon Age with this one, treating the world as the star rather than any main characters. Ironic, considering how it used to be an issue of making Dragon Age more like Mass Effect.
Wouldn't it be a problem continuing in the mass effect universe if, say, everyone has undergone synthesis and is part robot? Or if everything in the universe was destroyed? Or if Earth survived and everything became ok?
Problem is, Mass Effect 3's ending had universe wide implications. For each player the implications were different, so you can't just shrug that aside and just have new stories.
Also, the title itself wouldn't make sense anymore. Weren't the mass effect relays and citadel a trap set by the reapers to develop organic life until a point of extermination?
In an entirely different time in an entirely different place. Currently, the connection is tensions at best. I'd assume though we will see more connections tying it to the franchise making my "complaint" null.
