Who should play Gambit?

I wasn't suggesting Will Ferrel should be cast. That was a joke, and obviously that wouldn't happen. Outside the U.S., God knows what people find funny. In here, he's the best sketch comic today.

I hate Colin Ferrel, but I concede that he's a good actor. If Rogue is still a teenager, could they really put her and him together onscreen? If this were the X-Men as they really are (Rogue not being jail-bait and all), then I'd suggest Ferrel. Because they decided to pander to children, they probably won't use Ferel as Gambit.

Gambit shouldn't be in a tight leather black suit, unless it's a suit like in the Batman movies (sans nipples). Anyone who actually knows anything about Gambit other than "he n Rogue r sooo cute 2gether" knows that Gambit wears body armor underneath a brown duster. I don't mind if they change his coat from brown to black, but let's face it, if there's any place where they need to show him in obvious body armor, it's in a movie. Putting him in the same uniform with no modification would be stupid. He'll look no different from Wolverine. Oh, wait, I forgot, they have to pick some snot-nose brat to play Gambit on account of the young age of Bobby and Rogue, and all the other available females. Whatever they do, they should make the little pretty-boy punk look cool. Gambit always looked cool, or at least he did when all the other X-Men weren't dressing like him. They should let the X-Men wear their own individual costumes, but clearly Cyclops's half-second of screentime in X2 revealed the practical side of the costumes and now they have to have some kind of padding or armor underneath. But they don't look cool all in the same black costume. Wolverine should where his brown and tan bare-armed costume (unless they just decided that Hugh's tall, slightly lanky physique isn't fit to wear a real Wolverine costume) and everyone but possibly Cyclops and Storm should find other clothes. Gambit will look much better if he looks distinctive, and since Cyclops now wears the cliched trenchcoat normally reserved for rebels and bad-asses (a mistake in this case, clearly), they need to reverse that or make Gambit different in some other way.

Herr Cyclopse was dressed like a betty! He wore the trench coat in 1 scene. To hide the suit in my opinion.
Oh yes, I'd love to see Jackman in Yellow spandex 🙄

What, where you are from, does "Betty" mean? I can't laugh until I understand. I'll probably agree with you.
I will remind you that I suggested the "brown and tan" costume, not the yellow and blue one. I love the yellow and blue, but clearly the continuity of the movie would prohibit the decision to move from black to yellow. I like black costumes, but let's face it, it's a big cliche now and they have source material that offers more originality. Hell, they even wanted to put Spider-Man in a dark costume in the movie, and I'm not talking about the alien costume either. They just wanted to make it nice and dark to match the sickening screenplay written by James Cameron, before they wiped themselves with it and went with the real script. Superman was envisioned in a dark suit for the next movie (about 20 scripts ago, back when they actually had an idea they were going to make the movie). Wolverine doesn't need a slimming black costume. The actor already looks enough like a lanky pantywaist being who he is. His arms are pretty well built, so they should cut his sleeves.
Gambit should have a red chest plate, black pants, a brown, grey or black trench coat, and his bo staff. It would be awesome if someone other than Wolverine knew how to actually fight in the movie X-Men. Hopefully, they will feature the Beast as an active fighter and not just a cameo to help with this. I think even if they pander to little girls in choosing the actor for Gambit, they should at least let him live up to the character.

It would have been cool if the suits had their colors but remained with the cut these suits have.
Gambits suit should definitely be more like the comics.

Ah! So it's the equivalent of "preppie"! That's Cyclops, through and through. I don't think it's a very preppie look in and of itself, it being a militaristic, black, foam-rubber/leather bodysuit and all. You're right that it was used to cover his costume, but I don't think from the audience. I think it's because he's walking into a federal prison facility with a costume and a battle visor on and the least he could do is wear a coat so he doesn't look like a superhero. Cyclops's costume in the comics wasn't bad, but it's nothing special and it's not complicated, so I'm okay with his costume being as bland as it is. I'd have preferred that they went with blue and gold or black and gold as the team colors, because black is great but over-used and those were the colors in the comics. Storm looks good in black, but needless to say, I wouldn't mind seeing her in her original black costume. Come on, guys, you know the one I'm talkin' about. Time for a swim! 😎
