The Official Shipping Debate Thread [merged]

This is seriously making me sick.

I'm most thouroughly disgusted with you H/G shippers. Don't get me wrong, Ginny/Harry make a cute couple, but the way you're all basing your rebuttals on the hope that Luna will be a character that dies! For pete's sake, it'll probably be Neville, or hell, even Ron!

SO WHAT IF GINNY GAVE HARRY THE SNITCHES!!!! DOBBY gave Harry socks with snitches on them. I most certainly don't think Harry's in love with Dobby (though I'm not sure about Dobby) Harry's a seeker! I'm sure it wouldn't be appropriate to give him an egg with quaffles or bludgers on it!

So what if Luna didn't give Harry anything! Who cares about the article! Who cares if they don't have history! THEY BARELY EVEN KNOW EACH OTHER!

I do what Luna does to Ron with all my guy friends. I love bugging them with teases and such, like Luna and 'Weasley is our King'. Doesn't neccasarily mean I want to go snog him behind the green houses!

Just because Ginny calmed Harry down, doesn't mean they're going to get married and live happily ever after.

And, as I re-read all the posts on here, I saw no comparison between Luna/Lily, except for the first letter in their name.

Ginny's got red hair! Whoop-Dee-Doo!

Luna's first name starts with L! Whoop-dee-F***in-Doo!

I really don't appreciate my words being twisted by inane children.

And airangel429...how long has it been since YOU were a teenager, because hey! The last time I checked, I'm going to be 15 in two weeks, hence, I'm a teenager and what you said about the 'I saw him first' hasn't been done since 2nd grade a the earliest.

It takes alot to piss me off and I'm known for not speaking candidly, but the way you people just get your reasoning....*shakes head*.

Just because Ginny has history with him, doesn't mean she wants him to rescue her again.

Just because Luna had a whole chapter named after her and helped Ron, doesn't mean she wants him.

Again, nothing against G/H, it's quite cute....

But ever so cliched and predictable.

And, if, IF Harry and Ginny did go out, and for some reason or another, Harry broke Ginny's heart, the poor boy would be hunted down by six (or five if you forget Percy) menacing older brothers. I've seen things similar, never pretty.

I know we know Ms. Rowling better than that.

And, heh, have you all checked the polls lately? 😉

Hey...now I was the 1st one who brought the whole Harry/Luna thing to this forum in the 1st place b/c of what I had noticed towards the end of the book and with the thestrals and all.

#1 this isn't the debate place...I am stating my own opinions with bits of facts.

#2 I am 23 years old and know damn well how a teenager acts. I have been past the age of 15. No offense to your age, I am not bringing you down. I just have all my teenage memories, and the wisdom from going through it all. And yes, girls do this, if there are friends and a girl wants to date a certain guy, then the rule is he is off limits or it puts walls into the friendship. I remember seeing all of this happen when I was in school.

#3 I am not yelling at anyone.

#4 Ginny does owe Harry. The bond between Harry/Ginny is from the fact that Harry saved her life, so she owes him in some way....whether she will return the favor later, whether she dies for him, whether they court after school.

#5 Yes I do see Harry/Luna dating, but not lasting. I dont know if JKR will kill her off, I said it was in HER nature to kill off a newer character...**sob**

#6 FYI, I actually really liked Luna's character, she's really different from everyone else and I don't WISH for her to die. I just said it was likely.

#7 In order for Harry/Ginny to get together, Harry for one has to open his eyes and make a decision, then he also has to have the family approval

#8 I never said that they had to get together in school, I just said I THINK in book 6 that we will see more of a relationship between the two develop

#9 A huge, MAIN reason I am a H/G shipper is b/c J.K.R's own parents met at a place called King's Cross and this is where Harry/Ginny 1st meet.

#10 Another reason a H/G shipper is b/c in an interview J.K.R. said that Ginny (with the whole diary writing) was a lot like her own sister.

#11 JKR also favors the freckly kids, like she was when she was younger, and if I am not mistaken...I COULD BE....I believe Ginny had some freckles.

I am sorry to have rubbed some people the wrong way. These are just everyone's opinions and everyone is entitled to THEIR own opinion.

OH YEAH...and no it doesn't say that Luna fancies Ron, but it sure looks that way. She wasn't hurrying to help Harry with his things off of the train, she was wanting to help Ron. J.K.R. has her character sending vibes out to SOME of us readers to show us that there might be some interest that she has in Ron.

I hope that everyone calms down and has a nice day. There's no need to get THIS worked up over a discussion board. Each person is going to stand by what he/she believes in FIRMLY and there's no crime in that. 🙂 That's what makes all of us unique in a differnent way.

Yes I have noticed that alot of people have been favoring Luna! I never said they wouldn't date, I just don't think it will really go anywhere. And yes, Harry may very well much fall for her, but the thing is.....WILL SHE LIKE HIM BACK THE SAME........ that's where we were all kind of left in the dark.

Yes, I didn't want to sound mean at all either and I'm sorry if I did. I really am. I would go into further detail, but I am waiting for the debate and I believe JK, a small freckly little girl (this is when she was younger), chased after a train, just like Ginny. I believe that is what it was, I have recheck that. But. . . I will talk to you later Lokia, at the BIG debate!

Yes, I agree..the HUGE debates will take place in their OWN PROPER place 🙂 I am not a debator..so this i just my way of expressing my own opinions. But everyone is unique in their own way and we all comprehend things differently and some people see things that others don't. That's why I like these books sooo much. The author is very talented and hella KUDOS to her for writing them or we wouldn't be having these great discussions! 🙂

YEah...she might've been a freckly kid....running after the train...but who knows. I didn't hear that...but let me know..i just know about the whole King's Cross and how her parents met there. And authors always put in stuff from their own lives...whether its a small bit that's hidden or a larger portion of the story.

I know that I heard it on the H/G board we belong to airangel, I'll go check and I'll find and then post it for you and everyone else! K! 😄

mike corners a seeker??? i thought that he was a chaser cuz of the fact that he was dissapoint that ravenclaw lost... how can that be? mb im wrong... and also i think james should have been a seeker cuz of his incredable reactiveness and fondness of the snitch? always catching it? oh i dunno i should read it again...

i got confused on that part i think im gonna have to read the whole book again ive read it twice already

Oh! Okay, I found the quote about the train, I hadn't gotten it right on the spot but it was pretty close here:

(The train's whistle blows.) Oh no, is that us? (The train pulls slowly out of the station as Rowling waves exuberantly to a long line of fans. And then there is this quote, which will help me back up my reason why Harry noticing and first meeting Ginny at King's Cross Station was important:
