Haha, seriously, it is.

But I'm succeeding quite well. If I can get my damn attention span under control, I have a good chance at winning, even ๐Ÿ˜„

Now if I can just get another 1000 words done in the next hour...I'll be done for the night.

...well game on, Lana. I've decided to start my own, despite my already-psychotic schedule. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

...I'll let you know as soon as I've failed utterly.

๐Ÿ˜ฎ

P.S. I thought it was just for fun. There's actually a winner?

It is entirely for fun - you win if you manage to get your novel to the 50k word count by midnight on November 30th.

And yay, I'm not the only entirely insane person on here doing this ๐Ÿ˜„

I have a feeling half the people that "win" probably just copy/paste a bunch of random crap together to make 50,000 words.

I won't be doing that. If I make it, it'll be legit. Though I'm half-cheating by starting with a couple connected short stories that could easily be expanded into a novel. So without typing a word, I'm at about 5,000 right now.

...still way too long to go, but it's a start.

P.S. Hell, I'll make you a deal. If we both make it to 50K, I'll read yours over the winter if you read mine. 175 pages is generally no more than 2 days worth of reading for me, so I'll definitely have time.

P.P.S. ..if you don't want to, that's fine. Chances are I won't mkae 50K anyway, so you're pretty safe. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm just about skirting 7k right now. I only started writing yesterday afternoon, so I'm actually going at a pretty good pace...especially as I have nothing planned out for it at all beyond what the basic plot is. I'm just writing everything that comes to mind. I want to hit 7.5k before I quit for the night.

And I'll definitely read yours; I'll probably post mine up here once I'm done. Probably will edit it a bit, though, as right now I'm just basically doing as I said and writing anything that comes to mind. It all works and flows together but is kind of messy. Editing will come later, though. It's damn hard to turn off the part of my mind that wants to auto-edit everything because I don't have TIME to edit while I write.

Word padding is definitely a common thing with this, basically trying to stuff in as much as you can to hit the limit. I know I normally have a hard time doing descriptions, which makes writing anything of any decent length a pain. I'm probably going a bit overboard on descriptions right now, but I really do need to get as much in there as I can.

I have the first chapter (which isn't that long) posted on my profile at the NaNo site, my username on there is princesslana if you want to look.

Yeah, damn. That's more than 1000 a day. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

*begins brainstorming*

It's likely my mind will sabotage me somehow, but we'll see.

I entered proudly! I have been excited about this since June or July. I only have 2k sadly. I have had no time to write because of drama. Just got finished with our second night. made three hundred twenty dollars tonight alone!

Nice ๐Ÿ˜›

If you start on day one, then you've got to average about 1667 words a day to finish by November 30th.

I started three days late though, but I'm averaging a little under 3.5k a day (did 3.5k yesterday, and am at nearly 3.5k today). I want to try and keep up that pace for days when I don't have work or class, so that way I won't fall too behind if I'm unable to write a lot on days with work and school.

I don't believe it. I just lost the 2-3 k that i had saved to my damn computer. My computer froze and I restarted, went to open it and..........poof it is gone!

If I'm not at about 30,000 by this time next week, I'm in lots of trouble. The end of the month is a b*tch for me.

I have to spend all of tomorrow typing

I just got to 7k, and I'm tired and being too easily distracted, so I'm stopping for the night.

Here's going for at least 10k by the end of tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜„

Now you are making me nervous since i have to start from.......SCRATCH. And I want to get way past 50K

I apologize then. Without my glasses I see things that aren't actually there. I did not read your name when I made that remark.

Ok, you lost me ๐Ÿ˜•

Anyway, bad luck losing your work so far, that's harsh ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I'm reading your story, Lana. It reminds me of Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials, in the way that there are different worlds and everything is similar but, at the same time, is different. Good job so far.

I even advertised in the Horror section, for crying out loud...

Well, next time?

Go back to the bullet time one.

Sounds like a plan, Trick. Sounds like a lot more people had ideas for that.

I agree, it seemed a lot more popular โœ…

I'm available for judging, obviously.

You know, I love His Dark Materials and I didn't even really notice the similarities?

Thanks, though ๐Ÿ˜Š I'm having a lot of fun writing it, even though I have been having a tendency to make stupid mistakes and ramble endlessly about nothing (referred to as Nanoisms)...like a "large body of ocean that she was unsure if it was an ocean or lake", typing "suck" instead of "sun", and rambling about if mountain lions and cougars are the same animal.

Making myself not edit as I write and just WRITE is sure coming up with some interesting things and very slowly eroding my sanity. My character is currently about to have a shouting match with herself about talking to herself ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿฅท

Wheeeee. December, it'll be?

I may just enter. I'll have to see once I'm finished with NaNo if I feel like writing anything again for a while.

I finished the series in August, and I loved them. The only problem was with the Amber Spyglass there was a lot of description that was not really necessary, and I got bored, but since the plot was so brilliant I had to keep reading.

I make a lot of typos and ramble on, so I am constantly editing. I used to just write whatever, but it always turns out better if I edit after. Sometimes I read over a paragraph and have to re-write it, it's just so bad ๐Ÿ™„

๐Ÿ˜‚ I love just randomly writing and coming up with a load of stuff, and then going, "Crap, I don't even have a plot."

Also, REX, I would probably have a shot at the Bullet Time thing. The story I'm currently writing was going to be for the bullet time theme, but it ended up spiralling off to something else ๐Ÿ˜›

I'm basically just like "whatever, I'll edit and make it readable once November is over and the damn thing is done", because if I was editing as I went along, I'd never have a hope at finishing.

Not having a plot can be fun ๐Ÿ˜‚ mine barely has one and I'm having a great time writing it. Especially as how it's set up, things don't need to make sense and I can write whatever comes to mind...and if it doesn't make sense? Hurray for the fact that it takes place in a dreamworld!
