USH'S MATRIX GAME- The Dojo

-1 for a 4. Countered.

Phew! Ok, Coeus, he has been REALLY hammering you, but now it is your turn!

I turn and, sensing my opportunity, run along the wall, bringing my sword down and around, slashing at Fire with all my strength (Leaping Storm, almighty sword slash, -3 focus, +3 damage, +1 exertion)

Ok, Fire has told me he will be dodging all attacks this round from then on.

You roll a +2 for 7, Coeus- a dead on hit. However, that is for eight damage. OW! Your drop attack slashes nastily across Fire's chest.

Ok- Fire is past 20 which is the point he would have to start making 'death checks' if this were for 'real'. So in a sparring sense, the due is awarded to Coeus. However, I know Fire thinks he knows how to take better advanatage of his speed and focus next time...

Coeus is glad he took Clever Fox, I am sure! Even if he lost so many attacks from using it!

Phew! Quite a fight, eh?

YOU BET I AM... IF i didnt have it, i would have been dead the first time Fire used Jade Emperor against me, clever little...Anywho, congratulations on an AWESOME match, Fire, you really had me there for a while...And i hope everyone learns something from this match, cause we used a multitude of offensive, defensive and path oriented skills this match (and took up about 6 pages worth of posts in this thread)...Need to learn from everything. Anyway, good match man, i would be glad to do this again anytime...

I hope people learn of the relative values of strength and speed.

I think that whilst impressive, Fire's triple blade assault was probably less useful here than elsewhere as he could not boost the damage on those blows (unless he was also a Sharpened Scales Master), whereas Coeus is a VERY defensive player and can avoid damage well.

Maybe a better tactiic in this case would have been to alternate the fast sword attack from Jade Emperor and the three point slow vertical slash attack from Leaping Storm that Coeus did himself for his last blow. This would have kept Fire at even exertion, leaving room for dodges, and the +3 damage would have far more significantly hurt Coeus. Even better, with Fire's 13 Focus he can afford it.

Of course, everyone wanted to try stuff out most of all. But for learning purposes, it is always important to try and adjust tactics to your opponent- which is where over-specialised fighters can fall apart.

...except for the exertion...and when Fire did the Leaping Storm sword slash, he did damage against me, in fact the most damage he ever did to me in one swing, if i remember correctly...and, yes, he CAN afford it, whereas, when i tried the seven point kicking storm, i almost lost ALL my focus, and only got 5 damage for it...not that its bad, but against an almost evenly matched opponent, it is...And that extra two points in Strength really did wonders for my attacks...and i now know what to use and what not to use, until i gain more speed...

I wanna go guns with sumone!!!!

heheheh

yea I learned a lot from this match as well it was very exciting, nice tactic ush I'll think about 🙂

"Great Match man, you really had me a few times. and DAMN you can dodge!"

BTW, if this had been real, Fire would have had to fight on with -2 to his attack score and making checks to see if he was dropped every time he got it.

Wound penalties might be nasty- I would like to draw people's attention to the Tiger Path- which is less popular than I thought it would be- which allows you to spend Focus to totally ignore those wound penalties.

Guess who just posted up the gun rules in the reference area!

Umm.. well, I did. If you were wandering.

well..i guess i can fght tptmanno..but i can only come online once or twice a day so you have to be pacient with my moves...

Patient? Bah!

If anyone wants to take a stab at me, again with swords, i'll be waiting...

NObody?!

"I'll fight you," says Grim. He was entered to dojo in a white sparring gown, iunlaid with chinese symbols.

You use swords, or no?

"Ariadne, can i have the specs for our friend Grim here?"

awh christ.......put me with those swats then, i just want to fight someone THIS YEAR if possible 🙂

"Hey, I am right here" says Grim. "Nah, I am not a weapons man. But if you two want to fight," he says, indicating you and Rade, "that's fine by me, the offer is open."

"Grim's pretty good..." says Ariadne, whi is watching from outside in a break from working on the ship. Grim smiles- her voice was auidble to everyone.
