So if you tell a middle aged man, who fears Death, that if he converts he'll go to Heaven if all he gotta do is repent, that to me is playing off his fear just to get a recruit.
Some people need guiandence (sp?) I don't need to tell that to the man. He is going to die whether he accepts JC or not. Maybe recruitment isn't the right word. Convert sounds more like convince a person. I think is better to use the word "introduce" the teachings of Jesus. Christians follow the example of JC. He was a missionare who had a message of peace. Is very understanble that Christians want to follow in his footsteps and preach the word of God.....which is a message of peace and love for us all.

Find if people want ot follow those ways fine, they can do it in church and if someone wanna hear about it he/she knows were to go to learn about it......church. But when they go knocking on doors to spread the word they step too far
Oh, I used to love freaking out Jahovah's Witnesses when they came to my door. I'd answer with a bloody knife(from blood in the beef packages) "Oh hello. Would you like to join us? We are sacrificing a cat in the kitchen. We have an extra butcher knife if you'd like." or I'd answer the door just out of the shower...nude.
Good times. I don't get them anymore though 🙁.

Guidance and herding are two different things. Also, who the hell are random Christians to tell me that the way I'm living is wrong and that if I live their way or the way they live, I'll be a better person? If I ignore you and you end up in Heaven and I go to Hell, I'll have myself to blame.
When people like that knock at my door it's short:
Religious Person: Hello! Are you interested in converting to.....
Me: Nah.
*Shuts door*
All it takes really.

Say what? So if they tell you that you're going to hell for doing sins you get upset? I still don't understand. Why would a person who doesn't believe in God would be upset because some dude tells him he is going to hell? As far I know Atheist don't believe in God or heaven or even hell! Why would an atheist be offended? Is just plain silly! Jehova's witness have their own theology. For them preaching the word of God is their mission and they feel that need to spread it. I'm sure YOU have your own mission in life (whatever that might be) I'm sure you want to accomplished. Well, the same goes for Jehova's witness.
Whoah! they bring a message of peace to my door step and I'm gonna slam the door on them? Wow! that shows some real class. I had Jehova's witnesses come to my door step, and talk to me. I tell them I'm not interested and they go away. Much more simpler.

It's not the fact that they tell me I'm going to hell that makes me upset, it's the fact that a complete stranger, who doen't know shit about me, is telling me to change the way I live so I can go to someplace I don't even believe in. All I have to say to those assholes who stop me on the sidewalk in Times Square is: "Who the F*CK are you to tell me how to live!? I live HOW I want, WHERE I want, WHEN I want, and there isn't SHIT you can do to change me. F*ck off. If God wants me to change, let that motherf*cker show his face to me right now and tell me one on one that I should change." Actually no, not even God himself would make me change now.
Ya know what, that makes me WANT to go to hell now. I'm going to be a straight up a$$hole to every militant religious douchewad that tries to convert me.
I mostly have this problem with Christians(whoa, go figure. they've never forced their religion on anyone before right? Please, note the sarcasm). THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP.
I say "No, I'm not changing"
them "But then You'll go to hell!"
Me "GOOD. Go away."
them "Please, just take.."
me "NO"
and when that person finally gets the hint, ANOTHER Christian douche comes up to me. It's a never ending cycle.
