wtf? I told you exactly the opposite of what you said.all>Buddhists don't pray, they meditate. The goal of meditation is not communication with any kind of higher being, rather it's communication with your inner self and your mind... Basically getting to know how your mind works and learning how to control it better.
Ummm....DV Buddhists don't pray? In Japan millions of Buddhists pray to Amida Buddha, the Buddha of Infinite Light. They believe that Amida has created a Pure Land in the west and that those who have faith and repeat Amida’s name in prayer will go there. Yet they also believe that Amida is really within them. Also when they are in a temple I've seen that Tibetan Buddhist put their hands together in a form of prayer. Isn't that consider prayer? Meditation also appears in other religions....Hinduism, Christianity, Judaism...etc.
talking about religion here is a cool song by 10CC its called "The second sitting for the last supper"
"Another fish head in the dust bin
Another loser in the que for the soup kitchen
Another reason for a visit
We think you better come down
Another ****** on the wood pile
Another honky on the dole
Another trip from off the 15th floor
The greatest story ever told
Was so wrong
So wrong
Cause you promised milk and honey
And an everlasting life
But we listened with our ears closed
And a blindness in our eyes
But we heard them as they nailed you
And we saw you crusified
The second coming of the holy ghost
We need a pocket full of miracles
2,000 years and he ain't shown yet
We kept his seat warm and the table set
The second sitting for the Last Supper
Another guru in the money
Another mantra in the mail
An easy way from rags to riches
God's little acre's up for sale
The time is right for resurrection
We think you better come down
The church don't ring with Hallelujahs!
You haven't been for so long
So long
So long
2,000 years and he ain't shown yet
We kept his seat warm and the table set
The second sitting for the Last Supper
The second sitting for the Last Supper" - 10CC

Obviously there are variations on every religion/philosophy. But do I really have to say it again? Buddhists don't worship a common deity. And Tibetan Buddhists aren't "praying" when they put their hands together, they're meditating. I thought I made that difference clear, but I guess not.
No you didn't make yourself clear last time. You said that Buddhist don't pray. An in fact they do pray look at my example above. Whether it be to Prince Siddhartha or to Mohammed it is still consider prayer. Buddhist do pray that means that they are trying to communicate or get in contact with whatever is out there that they believe.
Would you say the same to someone switching to Christianity?such a strong religious movement as chrisitanity that it has 1000 of different congregations. The bible with the NT is so clear that even it followers cant agree on how to follow it. 😎 💃 yeah they should have called it confusionty in stead of chrisitianity
Euhm WindDancer the buddhist friends I have DO NOT pray, they would be insulted if you would accuse them of doing so.
There are a lot of different factions and different kinds of buddhism, like with any religion. But the foundation of the "purest" form of buddhism includes no believe in a deity, there is a higher state NOT a higher Being, which is a big difference. and they DO NOT pray to that creature that has reached that higher state. They MEDITATE to achieve enlightenment.
Oh, Noah again:
Why is it that there is nothing to show ALL animals we know of today originated from a SINGLE place (where the Ark touched down after the flood?). How did animals indigenous to Australia get all the way TO Australia?
Queeq>
1) So now the Bible says “world” and means “land”. Kinda difficult to know WHAT it means, isn’t it? Why then does the Bible say Noah took two of EACH species if only the species for ONE land?
2) There are flood-stories in many mythologies. Some geological studies suggest there was one after the last ice-age. But no studies to show all animals on the planet originate from ONE place. Of COURCE massive floods would pass down through history in oral legends.
3) Gensis 6:22
Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
4) You first have to convince me the flood was only in taht area. Genesis 6:7
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
So not just SOME men. Not just some beasts.
Oh, and – to all you atheists:
1 John, Chapter 2:22
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
Genesis 6:2
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
How many sons did God have????
Darth> I just saw Mississippi Burning
Genesis
9:20
And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:
9:21
And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.
9:22
And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
9:23
And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
9:24
And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
9:25
And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
Appearantly this means Canaan changed colour or something...?!?!?!
I'm not trying to insult nor to accuse your friends Fire. One of my bosses mother in law belives in Amida Buddha and prays to the deity. To say Buddhist's don't pray is a generalization. If you're speaking of the foundation of Buddhism are you speaking of Siddhartha Gautama? He also prayed along with his monastic friends The Sangha. Maybe not ALL Buddhisms prayed, but there is certainly some that do.
Idd to say they don't pray is generalization but to say they do pray is also generalization 🙂
Princce Siddharta is considered to be the base of Buddhism idd, I know he prayed and I know he is also being Prayed too but what I always found to be the "purest" form of Buddhism is one where they do not pray to Siddharta and where they do not consider him a deity.
I know you aint trying to inssult or accuse anyone, just wanted to let you know 🙂

He is into Christianity, he says its the same God. Just don't know where he gets all his info and curious as to how someone can dump a belief so fast. I mean i would thk someone would study it out first, just my thought anyways 🙂
Fire> You’re right. Prince Siddharta was born into Hinduism and lived in wealth and luxury for most of his life.
Then he encountered illness, old age and death (I think) and became a monk. Under some tree he attained enlightenment – that instead of being reborn endlessly (as you do in Hinduism) one should break the cycle of rebirth.
So Buddha is not a god. He’s a guide and a teacher. There ARE Buddhist temples, but people don’t pray as they pray to the God of Islam or Christianity, but asks for advice.
(Was in China a month ago - hence the reason I know)
