God / Religion Thread [merged]

It's impossible to prove that any god exists. Claiming god works through others or quoting a book written by men no more divine than you or I, most of which has most likely been embellished is not proof, it barley qualifies as speculation. There is nothing on this planet to suggest the existence of a god other than what others have told you and what you create in your mind. But there are plenty of things suggesting the lack of a god (suffering of all kinds, man's inhumanity to one and other and the complete free-will of men). This is not to say that life is all bad, don't get me wrong, I love life. Regardless of personal beliefs I find it hard to believe people can't see that. If you think there's something wrong with what I just wrote above, something overlooked, please say so. I'm not just preaching, I want to hear what you think! 😉

Bleh-you said that God gave you the will-or commanded you to stop smoking.
No God, lest the Christian God-gave me the will to do anything, I did it myself.

Manokhau's religion makes more sense... What kind of a perfect god would care if we worshipped him? If he were truly perfect, he wouldn't be greedy or egotistical, like the Christian god seems. It pretty much goes along the lines of:
If you are a good person at heart, but you were corrupted, or you just "sinned", if you repent, and trully say, "I am sorry"-truthfully, mind-God will forgive you.
Even many murderers, and psychopaths would be released from Hell, especially if they had mental diseases and such.

Also, my religion has an interesting thought on War, which is on the other thread, I believe-you gotta' remember, when those parts were being written, the First World War was drawing nigh, and the people were sck of being condemned.

The only explanation for evolution and such I can give is this, (and FE wil prob. kill me later 😛, j/k):
Well, I'd say from my gathered info that however long ago, there were Apes, and blah blah, we descended from them, and the Homo Sapiens Sapiens dominated over the (big-nosed Nordic-like people, uhmm......) Neanderthal (misspelled 😛).....
Around the time Homo Sapiens Sapiens appeared, we (Sapiens) spread far and wide, over the lands we now know so well.
Some would have went to Africa, and there their skin colour would've changed to withstand the rays of the Sun in a desert. Others went into Asia, and from them descended the peoples of the Orient (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. (sorry)).
Others went into Europe, and spread there, and the Germanic tribes became different peoples.

Now, the Bible speaks of two "Humans" being born, and from them we are all descended-the suspects are known as: Adam and Eve.
The only thing I don't understand is, why didn't God tell Moses, or another prophet of the Dinosaurs before them? 😕
Or do most Bible-goers say that Dinosaurs are a hoax? 😕

That's a lot of fake skeletons and fossils to plant and dig up later. 😄

I do not thk dinosaurs are a hoax, but what would we profit from them being in the bible? (yeah i'd like to know about them back then, but hey i have tons of questions i wish were in the bible) The bible is a guide line on how to live our lives, I dont think EVERYTHING that was seen and done is in the bible, there's no way possible to put all that in there.

Like now in the churches The Holy Ghost (holy Spirit) comes upon them and they speak in an unknown tongue (language), messages are interpeted, a message from God.

who said, that God gave YOU that? no that isn't what i said to anyone. I gaave examples of some healings and miracles, did not say God did that for anyone except for what i listed.

God isnt like a normal parent. We do what we do because God gave us choice to do whatever we want. He could have made us mindless puppets that do his will but he gave us choice to do and choose whatever we want. Yeah, I don't understand the topic either. Do you mean that the only way man will believe in god for certain is if he performs a grand, undeniable miracle just to prove to us that he exists? In that sense I suppose it would be like god performing a miracle for himself, just to prove to us that he exists. 😕
