What U See (Is What You Get)

First things first. Why the "U" in the first part of the title and the "You" in the second? I hate to admit it for this era, but with the large chorus ensembles and N' Sync riffs, a lot of the songs are running together for me. It's almost like Britney takes a bathroom break everytime the choruses occur.

When Britney makes the hostile threat, "Believe me, you'll be looking for trouble, if you hurt me, I can promise," I come to realise (again) just how brutal young females can be. This promise of hostility is coming from someone who (I think) is looking to be a Bond girl one day. Even 007 might have trouble getting out of those words!

Where Are You Now?

How come this wasn't called, "Where RU Now?"

They must have run over budget on this track because the harmonies consists of finger-snappping, bongos, and some American Idol reject wailing away in the background.

You know, I think this song has potential, and kind of sounds like Mariah Carey's "Hero," but it just doesn't quite finish off the lines the way they need to be in order to be effective.

😠 Now you're just being brutal!

What You See is my favourite song on the album. Stronger coming second. It made such a refreshing change from the pants first album! And it's true as well. I haven't been out with ONE bloke that hasn't had a problem with my looks after a week or so. So what if other blokes are looking at me? So did they before they went out with me! I am not putting a bag over my head, and I think that's what that song is all about. It's flipping the bird at the jealous boyfriend. 💃

As for Where Are You Now? - It's my second favourite soppy song from this era. I think it's really sweet. No complaints from me.

Anyway, I've been busy making clips from my most favourite Britney interview EVER - when she appears on the Frank Skinner show just before Crossroads was released. It's absolutely hilarious. In typical Frank Skinner style, he takes the piss out of her, and poor old Britters just sits there looking a bit scared! I've been picking the best bits out, and I'll uplolad them for you at some point. Give you a break from song reviews. Seeing as we're getting into the Britney era.......

If you notice, I upped the rating on "Stronger" from "Yesterday." (haha)

Well, I make my women carry their own body bag, so when they come across any human being without female reproductive organs, they can quickly hide their supermodelish faces and bodies.

Coming up on the reviews: An Herbal Urge is satisfied.

That should be the whole song.

I've Got The Urge (To Herbal)

This could be one of three things Britney "Can't Wait Anther Minute" to do:
1) Use Herbal Essence shampoo on her golden hair
2) Try her new herbal vitamins to keep that rump in tip-top shape
3) Smoke a whole bag of marijuana right on the spot
4) Get paid a whole bunch for singing a jingle for a commercial

Which is it? Regardless of the answer, I've Got The Urge to give this song a bad rating.

p.s. I re-listened to "What U See" and decided to bump it up to a 5.5 because I liked your take on it. That's it's final position, though.

Well, thank you very much!!! I'm flattered that my opinion means so much to you!!! 😆
It be herbal essences by the way!!!!

Here's a clip from The Frank Skinner Show when you've got some time - it involves a rather hilarious clip of a young Brit with a massive bow in her hair.

Rumors are circulating Miss Spears is preggers again.

Okay, watched the video from Frank Skinner, who appears to be the David Letterman of the UK, and it's pretty good stuff. The current Britney interview and discussion of "playtime" I could do without, but the Star Search clip was off the charts. She was a baritone?

I just wish all the men who spend their nights lusting after Miss Spears could see that Star Search video just once!

Yeah, I heard about that too. Apparently her spokesperson has denied the rumours, but who knows? I never believe anything about her anymore unless it's on her official site!

What is that picture from? Is she an astronaut now? fear

That was some promotional thing for Nascar back in 2001.

A little off topic for the Oops era, I know, but I figured u may find this picture amusing....................

You Got It All

Most of these songs have the same title as a popular song in the '80's. This one was a song by The Jets, and probably on the same level as it, too.

Wait a minute...it IS the same song as the one by them..."You've got it all over him...You must have been heaven-sent" I just heard that line. Okay, I'm not entirely sure why this song was chosen, but I can guarantee you one thing. I'll bet 99% of her fans (except you, lovee) would have no idea that this song is a remake since it's from like 1987. Therefore, they probably think it's actually a quality original song! Oh, the trickery!

The thought HAD occured to me, but I wasn't sure.

Hmmm....interesting song that. I used to like it a lot, but now it reminds me of someone I'd rather not think of. So I like it but I don't!

Okay, so that leaves Lucky, When Your Eyes Say It and.................that's it. On to the next era! Yay!!!!!

Frank Skinner - Their song reviews!

When Your Eyes Say It

Now I love metaphoric sweet-talk just as much as anyone else, but I believe a gigantic mistake of catastrophic proportions was made when Britney saw her first electric guitar. Since the instrument has been noticeably absent on all the other songs, it seems to out of place in this song which makes you less concerned with your eyes, and more with your ears...as in covering them!

The guitar riffs are nothing more than slapstick blues for dummies, and sound like Britney tripped over Justin while he was sleeping during the recording, and her rump landed on a plugged-in guitar.

Aside from being sexy, and a good "performer", she really has no talent. Her singing is average at best. Without her bod and boobs, she's your average hot young woman. And, there is nothing wrong with that either.

Lucky

It looks like I saved the autobiography for last, as Britney depicts her life story in harrowing words of a lonely diva star who's famous yet is miserable in public. Is it a publicity stunt? Is it a mistake by her agent? Or is it (gasp) her true feelings?

It kind of reminds me of the old joke:

LOST: 1 dog, 3 legs, half a tail, one ear chewed off, has rabies....answers to "Lucky."

Maybe Britters isn't exactly a dog with one ear chewed off...maybe she's better than that. I just wish that she gave credit to the 12 people singing backup with her on each song. Maybe call the diva band, "Britney and the Bangers," or something like that.

I think the general idea behind Lucky was to try and make the public realise that there are two people invloved when you are dealing with a Celebrity. All Celebrities are sold by their Agents; period. And Britney was no exception. She became two people, Britney Spears the product, and Britney, a sweet southern girl from the Bible Belt. In that respect, it's kind of an interesting song, if not a little too cutesy in places.....
I like Lucky. It's a happy track! Happy tracks are good people!!!
As for When Your Eyes Say It. No comment. I can't even remember how it goes which is how much that song meant to me.

The interesting thing here is that my pal Botankus has just rated Oops! I Did It Again at EXACTLY the same as ...Baby, one more time. However, my rating for this era is slightly higher, so that might tip the scales in this era's favour slightly.

Botankus - 52%
Britrogue - 62%

I suppose I better get on with my clip making. Coming next is the "Britney" era;

I'm A Slave (For You)
Overprotected
Overprotected (Darkchild Remix)
Lonely
I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman
Boys
Boys (Co-Ed Version)
Anticipating
I Love Rock n Roll
Cinderella
Let Me Be
Bombastic Love
That's Where You Take Me
What It's Like To Be Me
Before The Goodbye

and the following unreleased songs:

Taste The Victory (Right Now)
I Run Away
Intimidated
She'll Never Be Me

Wow about that 52%! What are the odds of that?

Now I haven't heard any of these new songs...but "I love Rock and Roll," please tell me that isn't what I think it is. 😱

So, G, are you going to wait until the end of the reviews before we get the exclusive full-version clip of the winners? Right now it looks like it should be:

Born to Make You Happy
Walk On By
Lucky

What did you rate Lucky, by the way?
