Britney Spears

Thank you very much! I have many for each era in case you hadn't noticed.......................

Oh, Shar Jackson. Mistress of the bitter variety.

Lonely

After a couple of listens, I've decided that this song seems to try too hard. I'm not sure how much influence Britney has over the music, but it's a tired beat, and she and I are both tired of crying.

I belive I've left some power songs as the last ones of this era to review, so it should get interesting (now that Lonely has lived up to its title).

I love the lyrics for that song; probably because I've lived them personally!

"Think of all the time that I wasted;
think of all the times that I took you back.
Ain't no way I'll be lonely;
I don't wanna let you back in.
Let's just face it;
better off alone and I won't turn back
You'd think that I would be lonely
I don't wanna let you back in."

It's certainly a good one to listen to if you're letting your heart rule your head. So for personal reasons, I'm a big fan of this one!

So when you're walking with a bloke, you have "What U See (Is What You Get)" going through your head, and when you're alone with him you're thinking "Overprotected," after you've dumped him you think of "Lonely," and when you're back on your feet and ready for a new bloke you're thinking "Stronger."

And when you're having dinner with him, you can't get "Soda Pop" out of your head.

Not these days no...............

Cinderella

You know, Gilly, I had a hunch your sig line of "Cinderella's Got to Go" was from this song...and I was right! smartass Aside from the ushering out of the fictional character that Britney doesn't want to be classified as (she claims she "doesn't believe in fairy tales), I like the overall package of this one.

It's not too dry, not too boring, not too overdone like some others are. She apologizes for living her life the way she wants to. There are many girls & women who probably declare this song as their anthem!

I have a confession to make, and it's one I'd like no one to know (that's why I put it on a message board). There are a few songs that I still remember parts of the songs: They are What U See, Stronger, I Run Away, Born To Make You Happy, Soda Pop (the "Show me what you got...blah blah pop top part...ugh!), and Lucky. I'd probably put Cinderella (the I'm sorry, part) in there, too, but I'll check back on that one in a few days.

Good man! Cinderella is without a doubt one of my most favourite Britney songs ever, and is my second favourite on the album after Overprotected. I remember being a little dubious after reading the title that it was going to be one of her nauseating pansy songs, but how wrong was I?????

So does this mean you want me to post the full versions of the above mentioned songs at some point???

Sure...except for Soda censored2-ing Pop.

How about we do that at the end of the reviews?

Ok. And believe me, I am MORE than happy to leave out Soda Pop. That has to be the most irritating song EVER!!!!!!!

Britney is the BEST! I can't imagine the pop music without her. She's my fave singer ever!

Is Britney pregnant again?

Hey Nastyyy and Makedde! Welcome to the thread.

Nastyyy; you're quite right, pop music would never be the same without Britney Spears

Makedde; That's a very good question. It has been officially denied by her spokeswoman, Leslie Sloane, but she made a point of saying that if Britney was pregnant, she hadn't told anybody in her inner circle. They kept it pretty quiet last time, so it's always a possibility. Personally, I never believe anything until it gets posted on her official site. There's so many lies in the papers these days.

I forgot to post a picture!

I'm A Slave (For You)

Well, this song certainly lives up to its title, as it is a hypnotic journey into the world of annoying clinks and clanks summoned by a Casio Keyboard. I'm assuming the "You" in this song refers to the music mixer who happened to fall asleep while this song was being recorded and forgot to hit the "Stop Loop" button.

Okay, I've picked up some moments of heavy breathing by Britney as well as lines such as "oh, yeah" and "I want you baby" spoken in a very sexy tone. I think it's pretty obvious the intent of this song, especially for her male and lesbian listeners. Considering I'm at work and can't turn it up, I have no choice but to give it a bad grade.

How uncharitable!
Yet again, this was an extremley brave choice of song for Ms. Spears. It was the first song released off the album and was a totally different sound to what we were used to. She also completely stole the show at the VMAs when she performed this song for the first time with a seven foot albino python draped around her neck.
It's definately not my favourite Britney song, but I have to give her credit for the sheer balls required to release it!

Boys

This song has a certain Prince flair to it, and that's not a good thing. I think someone leant Britney a copy of Purple Rain (the stuff with Nikki and what's her name) before she approved "Slave" and "Boys." I hope the remix is better.

Yeah, that song SCREAMS Prince. Personally, I loathed the Co-Ed remix, but it's up to you!

Boys (featuring Colin Farrell) 😑

This one is better, and I see they made a video for it, too. Still, I'm waiting for a return to the stronger stuff. I hate it for these last 2 songs - they're really bringing the average, which started so promising - down.

Oh, he had such a great voice in Phone Booth, don't you remember, luvee?

I edited my last review, talking about how I'm upset that "Boys" is bringing the average down. It started so promising.
