Korri, I just want you to know that my new signature pic is dedicated to you and Neo.

*a moment of silence for The One, please******** Thank you*

I watched the movie again yesterday... I love it even more now.

I felt like I was about to break into tears as I made this sig pic. It's just so sad to know that they were really saying goodbye... man... I'm gonna miss those seeing those two together

We should have a "remember the good times" thread where we could post all our fond memories from the first two movies... *sigh*

simple> (btw everyone press F5)

😖hifty: ...omega, if your out there, we could use a little help..........

Neo may have stopped breathing, he isn't necessarily dead. We never see his body disposed of on screen, therefore his death is not canon. For a Christ-like figure, death would completely be out of the question. Jesus died and rose again. One could say that Neo did this in M1, but Jesus never died, he ascended into heaven to return again. If the Wachowskis are using Neo to represent Jesus, they did NOT have him die.

But the newest programs such as Agents may be created by old human RSI's.

No, Neo's death in Revolutions represented him being crucified. Jesus DID die, but came back to life and then ascended into heaven. Neo probably did the same. He's part of the Matrix now.

JediHDM> Yes, I found the lyrics. What do you need me to explain again? Or rather, what didn’t you get? 🙂

From delusion lead me to truth
From darkness lead me to light
From death lead me to immortality.

He who knows both knowledge and action, with action overcomes death and with knowledge reaches immortality.

In him are woven the sky and the earth and all the regions of the air, and in him rest the mind and all the powers of life. Know him as the ONE and leave aside all other words. He is the bridge of immortality.

Beyond the senses is the mind, and beyond the mind is reason, its essence. Beyond reason is the Spirit in man, and beyond this is the Spirit of the Universe, the evolver of all.

When the five senses and the mind are still, and reason itself rests in silence, then begins the Path supreme.

And when he is seen in his immanence and transcendence, then the ties that have bound the heart are unloosened, the doubts of the mind vanish, and the law of Karma works no more.

It’s kinda like M1+M2+M3 in Upanisad form!

This is HIGHLY interesting. Have a look.

The Unknown> The “Saviour” aspect is found in many myths/legends and religions. The Christian aspect of Jesus/Neo dying and being resurrected (by Trinity) already happened at the end of M1.
What happens to Neo at the end of Revolutions far more resembles Buddhist/Hindi transcendence. Breaking the chain of birth-death-rebirth and reaching a higher state, symbolised clearly by the lotus blossom. But you CAN ONLY break the cycle if your heart is free of emotion/desire/want.

But many people have said that Neo died as a cross.

well, there is the glowing white light in the shape of a cross (also the Dues Ex Machina saying "it is finished"😉. These all lead people to (obviously) think of Christianity, and of dying on the cross. But Omega is right. There are Tons of things that point to Buddhist/Hindi transcendence. And I'm sure there are other religions and beliefs that can be seen in the movie as well

I guess your right. If it's from Hinduism/Buddhism, he's completed his dharma (Stopping Smith). If it's from Hinduism, then he is dead, not part of the Matrix. If it's from Buddhism, then he's part of the Matrix.

The Unknown> yes, there was a cross, but Neo wasn't exact hanging on it, was he? The light spread out from the solar plexus in the shape of a cross (naturally a Christian reference). Neo is carried off like a Viking Funeral.

The symbolism of the lotus in Buddhism is that it represents the ordinary person, who is born and raised in an environment which may contain a lot of questionable ways, morals and principles, but has the potential to learn and creatively rise above its environment. If it rises high enough, then it reaches the surface and can fully realize the potential of life.

According to Hinduism, within each human inhabiting the earth is the spirit of the sacred lotus. It represents eternity, purity and divinity and is widely used as a symbol of life, fertility, ever-renewing youth and to describe feminine beauty, especially the eyes.

(Edited as last part didn't register)

DEM said "it is done"
time for this quote again:
He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.
that kind of sums up the end, neo and smith, people can leave if they want....

Okay. And according the Hinduism, once you've broken free of reincarnation, you cease to exist (Neo dies). And in Buddhism, you become one with the Earth (Neo merges with the Matrix).

to beat Sifer at his own game
...Transformers....

The Unknown> You break the "chain", the cycle of reincarnaion. But that happens ONLY if your heart and mind is free of any bonds.
The Lotus may as well represent, that Neo did INDEED reach his full potential as The One, but we're not dealing with actual Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Greek myth or any other.

The point is, that what the first to religions refer to as illusion (the real world) is The Matrix, a virual world. And Neo did by no means lead the life of a boddhisatva. Far from it.

robots in disguise 🙂

The 8-Fold Path is for Buddhism, not Hinduism.

The Unknown> Both religions deal with and reincarnation and Karma. But Buddhism takes this one step further, to say that you should reach Nirvana (which either extinguishes the soul (“small ship”) or some kind of heaven (“large ship”)).

Hinduism says that the soul ceases to exist. Buddhism is where you become one with the Earth. The 8-Fold Path was created in Buddhism. It says that you have to give up wanting and the other stuff (can't remember what they were).

Q. whats this thread about again?
A. *hands Omega a kleenex*

(looks)
(Wipes a tear from eye)
You're right burlyman. This is a comfort-thread. One should be started on Neo's fate...
