As for the meteor landing on the shield....well in Ocarina of time, those flaming boulders that fall on death mountain can be blocked by lil 10 year old Link by merely ducking while the shield is on his back. No where in the video game does Link drop his shield and no where does he get hurt for blocking an attack with the shield (unless bull rushed by a huge end of level boss). If we are playing by game dynamics and you can send a huge crushing meteor down to earth...then i'll play by Link's game dynamics and just block it with the shield or who's to say that Link woulnd't just stand right next to Seph when he casts the spell? This isn't turn based RPG land...this is a fight so u don't get that 20 ft between u and your opponent...cast meteor all you want because if it hits Link, then it's hitting Seph too. Or is this some unbelievable fight where Seph just vanishes when the meteor shows up and reappears when the spell is done being cast?Please realize that it's no flaw in your logic...because your logic (and mortis's) are very sound, more so than mine. It's just that i'm much too narrow minded to let this arguement go without a fight.
Sorry I haven't posted for a while but I was REALLY ILL, so I,m just going to scan all the pages I missed and pick up on arguments I like.
Okay Linkalicious I can't argue with the full body sheild argument, that would completly protect Link from a frontal assualt. However the massive weight of the sheild would take away the one thing Link needs...speed. All Seph would have to do is jump over it and hit Link in the back since the sheild would severly limit Link's movment

again we're doing that thing where Link is an incompetint fighter. If Seph jumps over Link...then Link turns around...toughie. i think Seph would be much more likely to side step (very quickly) to Link's left hand and try to take him out sword vs. sword ultimately nullifying that big shield of his. I only brought up the mirror shield because it reflects magic...so if meteor is cast, i atleast have an excuse as to why it doesn't hurt Link. I really do think that Seph could best Link, but i think in certain situations Link might best Seph (few certain situations.) I only put up this huge arguement for those guys that come in here and go....Link gets his head cut off...end of story.

I'm not saying Link is an incompetint fighter, he's a damm good fighter as I recall, it's just that using a sheild that can cover your entire body would also slow you down a lot.
I did find a way that Link could beat Sephiroth but in my personal opinion Sephiroth would win. But if you're intrested here's how Link could kill the One Winged Angel. You see as powerful as Sephiroths Masume is it can only be used at a range from the opponent, if Link could get in tight Seph's sword becomes useless. But I think Seph would kill Link before he could get close.
And one more thing the Masume blade probably weighs in at about 250 to 300ilbs which isn't that difficult to lift. (The length would make the tip of the sword dip but that could be overcome with training.)
totally true ryu. I think Link's best chance is to use those pegasus boots (from Link to the Past) and shield charge Seph...(who would probably move). But if Link could connect with that, then he could follow up with some sword hacks and stand a chance. That is IF he can manage to hit him with that running charge.

in my mind this is what would happen, when the fight started sephiroth would hack at link, link would block with his shield and while sephiroth recovered he would charge with his shield. however sephiroth would jump super-high (reference to KH) over him and behind him and hack him with his long sword, therefore ending the fight (i.e.) unless link puts on the omni oni omi, what ever the he11 that mask is, hes screwed.
