Matrix at the Oscars

I didn't really like that scene. I'd rather have seen what was going on in the Matrix or with Neo and Trinity.

...yeah, but besides that, I would say that's one of the best, if not the best animation sequence in film. (granted i have yet to see ROTK!)

grehel: Please, watch it. I have a "sneaking" (you will know when u watch 😄) that you will agree that ROTK has probably THE best special effects...ever.

A message in the Matrix which the board doesn't like? Of course there is:

Subliminal Message*You are all under control, go back to sleep*Subliminal Message

But if you still wonder why it never got nominated then here is ANOTHER reason:

Revolutions: 250,000 Sentinals that all look identical. However many APU's (forget the number) all battling in an enclosed environment completely CG.

RotK: 250,000 enemies of various sizes, shapes, type. But individuality was spurred into each of these. Add this to the hand-cam footage and integration of the effects into the "massive" (get it? 😉), mostly real environment and at the same time looking completely genuine.

Buuuuut, you're gonna find another excuse to moan, so its pointless to try and explain why to some of you 🙂

THis has been said several times already... that is a reason ROTK is better, NOT why Matrix is not nominated. As has been said, it was better than several of the options on that given list.

reality is something which is based upon concept; the concept of the matrix called for some really artificial axn. as inside the matrix u can challenge ur limits and do something gr8.....as for zion its the future we need heavy defence.........

and whats the sense in making machinery look different then for this we need to have diff. moulds and etc..........

also people by default come in diff. shapes and sizes so it is to be dun........

Exactly, creating 250,000 sentinels is relatively easy compared to creating 250,000 completely individual orcs, people, whoever 🙂 Which is also another thing with RotK: Variety. Not only was there people, we have Army of the Dead, Nazgul & Fell Beasts - total and utter integration into a real environment 🙂

Sifer> You're STILL missing the point. (And must’ve been left out somewhere, if you think the Zion battle scene was EASY to create).

No one is arguing that RotK has amazing special effects. No one.
This thread debates why Reloaded was not even NOMINATED for an Oscar, when Master and Commander, Hulk and T3 were nominated.

I didn't say it was easy...read again. I said it was "easy compared to".

Oh. the oscars are rigged anyway...
I mean if they think the Hulk's green ass was better than the zion sentinel war, something is wrong

I thought that Reloaded wasn't even submitted to be nominated for anything so it wouldn't be competing with Revolutions.

It hasn't. Hence the reason it isn't going to win 🙂

I love both effects from ROTK AND M1 and M2.....The rest, I couldn't care less for! Maybe Pirates.....not as big a deal as Matrix and ROTK though!

I think rotk would win anyway I love matrix better but Rotk would win coz I dunno I just feel it

(Slaps forehead) Reloaded/Revolutions... it's still NOT the point.
(For the third time)
I'm yet to meet ANYONE who argues that RotK doesn't have great special effects. Again, the debate is why Revolutions (then) was not even nominated.

One reason: Deep rooted philosophy clouded by allegory.

Oscar Board: ?HUH? 🙂

Matrix at the Oscars

Sifer, you've most likely hit the nail on the head.

Oscars:Huh? I'm not supose to use my brain in a theater. That's why we go to movies. Let's not nomidate this movie.

lets boycott the oscars and just not watch it!!! 😖hifty:

The ONLY reason I watch it is to see if Lord of the Rings wins. I detest the Oscars really, but if there is anyone on this planet who deserves one, it is Peter jackson and his cast and crew of LOTR! What he has done has NEVER been done before and has added a whole new dimension to movie making.

i have heard rumors that the oscar comittee was a little pissed at them for trying to persuade them to allow reloaded/revolutions be counted as one film. i heard the matrix producers even tried to pay money so they would allow it. rotk would prolly win but revolutons is still a close second. but i have to believe that they are pissed at matrix becuz they pretty much gave them a slap in the face along with a foot up the buut when they announced that peter pan beat it for nominations. WHAT IN THE HELL?!

ok, heres wut i think: master and commander (wut special effects? there was like, wut, 10 mins of battle scenes in that)
hulk has a green ass uglier than gollum
ROTK great special effects
Revs amazing effects ( however taht little NEO/Smith punch was the MOST FAKE THING IN THE WORLD!!)
T3 was cool jus cuz of TX
overall tho, i would like to c Revs win, even tho i know ROTK will, (yes i know revs wasnt nominated n that sux)
the reason for this is because even though revs has better effects (opinion) ROTK does the best at incorporating its effects into the movie, while matrix simply puts them in when they cant do it live. M1 has better effects because it was real people most of the time (if not all, im not fully aware of any cgi people in M1) however in M2 n 3, it seemed like they put in cgi characters because they didnt want to use real people (neo's little twirl thing while he was flying could've been done live very easily, and a lot of burly brawl could have been live as well.)
so yeah, ROTK wins in my eyes, but Revs should've been nominated.
