Nolan, Bale & Holmes Talk Batman Begins!

Saturday, August 28, 2004

'Future Leader' pointed us to the Telegraph which has published an excellent article on Batman Begins, including details on the Chicago and Shepperton shoots plus quotes from director Chris Nolan and stars Christian Bale and Katie Holmes. Here are a few of the quotes...

Unlike Tim Burton's gothic Batman fantasies, Nolan has opted for gritty urban realism, delving into just how and why Bruce Wayne became Batman.

"This Batman is grounded in reality," he explains, leaning against the bar of a nearby restaurant during a break in filming. "He has no super-powers; all he has is his wealth, which he uses to obtain the technology he needs to do what he has to do."

"This Batman remains in the shadows and is fuelled by a great deal of rage," says Bale, 30. "He has tremendous anger. He's not a knight in shining armour, because of his personal need for revenge."

"I wanted to make sure that the Batmobile, like everything else in the film, is possible and believable," says Nolan.

Bale also says he's already signed up for two sequels!

woah...let's hope he's worth it!

They must be incredibly sure Batman Begins will make tons of money if they already signed Bale for two more films.

Well they know that Batman is an extremely popular character. That was the only reason that The first fim did so well at the box office even though it was terrible film was the popularity of the character.Unlike Burtons films,I am looking forward to this film because Nolan unlike Burton, seems to understand the Batman mythos.

Here's the actual article:

aint a super batman fan, just like the 1st 2 movies, just to make sure other sources are right the villian for the new movie is that Ra guy that has some eternal youth pool and that hot daughter Bruce likes

There will be no Lazarus Pit, and there will be no Talia.

eh too bad there aint a Talia

Has anybody heard that this Batman is going to have an armored suit, made by Wayne Enterprises to replace the old cape and cowl? I hope this is not true ( I haven't been through all the messages, too many) because wouldn't it mean that this version of Batman doesn't have any real skill, unless of course it's along the lines of Azrael's armor.

What I like about Nolan's treatment so far is that he's making Batman's world more realistic and contemporary, compared to how Burton slaughtered it.

Thanks for that interesting news, film!

look for this words: KFM

Batman Begins Presence at Magic

'James' tells us more about the Las Vegas show Magic where Batman Begins was promoted...

At the beginning of this week I was in Las Vegas for the trade show called Magic. It's where all of the clothing companies and license companys show their goods. Well to make a long story short, Rocawear (which is owned by hip-hop mogul Damon Dash) is working with WB on either product placement for Batman Begins or they are designing uniforms for the WB employees. Because the actual Batmobile from Batman Begins was on display in their booth. And WB security was not allowing anyone to take pictures of it. I tried to sneak a pic but security made me delete it. But let me tell you this, it's an awesome machine. It looks like a Hummer on steroids.

Murphy Wraps Batman Begins Filming
Source: ComingSoon.net
Thursday, September 2, 2004

ComingSoon.net reports that Cilian Murphy, who stars as Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, recently wrapped up filming his role for the new adaptation.

The site says that next up for him is lead role opposite Rachel McAdams in the Wes Craven thriller Red Eye, which starts shooting November 8 and is likely to hit theaters before Batman Begins.

Articles that talk about a convention and don't mention much of anything about the movie, don't seem worth posting to me. That Murphy wrapping up his shooting was, but quite short. I'll check for new news soon, but there hasn't been much lately. Well, nothing interesting and worth posting here.
