Goyer on Batman Begins & Blade: Trinity
Source: USA Today
September 23, 2004

USA Today talked to writer/director David Goyer about both his upcoming Blade: Trinity and Batman Begins. Here's a clip:

Which movie is better?

"You can't really compare the two; they're so different. Batman is dark, more subtle, more of an introduction to the character. Blade is much more of a comic-book movie, much more over the top. But I feel a lot more pressure on Blade. If Batman does well, I'll get some of the credit. If Blade does well, though, I'll get all the credit. And if it flops, I'll get all the blame

SFX Talks to Goyer About Batman Begins

September 24, 2004

British Sci Fi/Fantasy magazine SFX tells Superhero Hype! that their new issue (in UK shops on Wednesday) has a Batman Begins cover and a nine-page feature on the movie, including some exclusive new quotes from writer/director David Goyer. Here's a snippet from the article:

SFX: "What was the spirit that you wanted to capture with this movie? Is there any period of the comic book that particularly influenced you?"
Goyer: "The moment in Year One when Bruce Wayne is returning to Gotham after a multi-year absence. I was captivated by that. I wanted to explore what had happened in those intervening years. And I also wanted to depict the moment when he decides to leave Gotham - what he would say to Alfred, his foster father, and how that would take a terrible toll on his heart.. And because we were using Ra's al Ghul, we definitely used some of the Denny O'Neill issues as a point of reference."

Yeah it is a strange day for them to start a new show on but I guess they don't really care.

New Batman Begins Artwork Online

'Threshold' pointed us to Popfunk who will be selling both adult and youth apparel for Batman Begins in the future. Currently on their site though is a cool piece of artwork promoting the film. While it doesn't look exactly like the suit used in the film, the art is probably official and is, or was, used for merchanding.

the major difference there that i can see is that the cape doesn't have those dumb clips holding it on, its attached to the cowl instead... which is a far smoother and better look IMH.

atman Begins Featured in Empire Magazine

September 30, 2004

Browsing entertainment magazines yesterday I picked up the September issue of the U.K. magazine Empire & to my suprise there was a massive 2-page picture of the new Batman inside! It was an awesome picture of him falling/descending inside a large building, showcasing an incredible wing/cape span. In the article Christian bale says "When I play Batman I think of him as a creature." I wish I had the picture to show you. There was a small article to acompany it.

Wizard Mag on Batman Begins Footage
Source: Wizard Magazine
September 30, 2004

Not sure if anyone has seen the latest issue of Wizard, but in there they had a nice little article about a special showing of a few scenes of the new Batman Begins movie. And from the response of the crowd the movie is really shaping up to be great, the audience gasped at the first sight of The Scarecrow, and a few actions scenes that had the audience wanting more. It also showed Bruce (Christian Bale) was training fighting Henri Ducard on a sheet of ice. All in all the article was very informing and the audience gave the movie a standing ovation when the scenes were over.

Be sure to check out the magazine, in stores now.

That was 2 months ago? (The november issue is just out.)

It's just that same cape-out staircase picture we saw ages back.

Wizard Magazine is made that way, its just the way they make the mag. Anytime you buy an issue it will always be two months ahead on the cover.
