Hmmm...I would have put Shikamaru at no. 3. his intelligence and shadow techniques are extremely effective. And you already know my thoughts on Hinata. I also think Lee at 5th gate could probably handle Sai, however I tend to forget Sai's feats.
He is not as useful as the four above him as far as fighting or being a ninja in general. He's a good tactician but most of the ones above him are good tacticians in their own right, just without his drawbacks. Lee is the only question mark, since he hasn't really showed much tactical brilliance, but he his easily a better fighter.

I don't know, neji has not had as impressive of showings as Shikamaru has had. Based solely on Taijutsu and overall chakra levels, I agree that Shikamaru is trumped by Neji, but as far as who would win in a fight, I would have to go Shikamaru. he beat an Akutski memeber by himself. Something even Asuma failed to do.

He beat an Akatsuki member with prep. Prep is something that is hard to calculate so in general it's left out. Even in our own super duper list we rank characters without prep, but we put a * next to them to show they could be higher with it.

Valid point. However, Shikamaru is great in thinking on the fly as well. The fight with Temari in the Chunin exams comes to mind, and also the fight with that Orichimaru henchmen the took Sasuke. The only real limiting factor for Shikamaru is his low level of chakra.
The part about Sasuke being more powerful at any point than current is debatable. (i happen to think otherwise) However I am not foolish enough to think that Naruto has always been stronger either.
Honestly, unless Sasuke becomes a Madara clone, I think Naruto punks his ass.

Temari would probably be pretty high up there. she completely owned Tenten and did very well against Shikamaru. Kankuro is hard to guage. Sometime he looks hardcore, but at other times I think the Byakugan users would fair well against him. He is nowhere near Sasori's level. I'd put him in the middle.

Eh...I think both are inferior to Sakura but probably stronger than Sai. And I prefer Temari to Kankuro so I put her above him.

Which didn't help him because he was bone dry. He might have been able to have won but that's a might.
Rasengan is not really> Chidori, Sasuke had to bail him out against Haku, the Gaara fight...well Sasuke still helped in that fight so lol, and no Naruto did not beat Pain. In the narrative he did, in a vs scenario he didn't.
Not a bad thing really. Would make for a boring fight if one side outshines the other.
